It’s the systems/style of football we play & they work fantastically in a set piece reliant side or one that thrives on aerial balls/physical duels being won but not so much a possession based game as you say! Big reason so many strikers have failed for us recently, they didn’t fit the needs of the side - Sloth

Guido starts as a second six for me, especially before the likes of soucek and jwp Double pivot out of position Will really address our defensive issues, when in possession we can easily switch to a. Guido anchor, paq drifting from 10 to an 8, Alvarez splitting the central defenders for a back. 3, while kudus drifts into 10, naturally, the fullbacks push up to support the attacks That is a far stronger defensively both in possession and out of possession and his light years ahead to facilitate patient buildup with paq dictating from the 8 Even if we get another eight, he'll have to be of significant quality to warrant a starting position

Less than 6 weeks ago Alvarez tore his hamstring. Rodriguez is his replacement. If it’s a grade 2 tear as we e seen him walking/limpimg around. The he’s at least another 8 weeks away from playing - recuperations training on grass.

@@artel6225 let’s hope it was diagnosed as grade 2 as a precautionary upgrade (as tears often are) he seems to be walking well & apparently back in a form of training, though it’s likely just gym based - Sloth

Lots of if’s here… but…. If Alvarez is fit for the start of the season and we don’t have another CB in by then. Guido in the holding role and Alvarez next to Kilman… Guido and Alvarez played those positions with eachother at club America…. So it’s doable!!
