Today was one of those days where things just didn’t go by the book. We started off with some vaporstat adjustments, which should have been simple enough-but in the process, two HVAC cardinal sins were broken! (We’ll get to those soon…)
Next up was a no heat call, and of course, it had to be in one of the dirtiest, most disgusting basements I’ve seen in a while. After some troubleshooting, we found the issue-a completely blocked exhaust, which is a serious safety hazard. Clearing that up got the system running safely again, but it was a reminder of how important it is to check venting regularly.
From there, we moved on to a leaking water heater, which had to be shut down before it caused more damage. Then, it was time to replace a condensate pump, a straightforward swap that helped get things back in order.
The last job of the day? Removing a bad blower motor, which had completely failed. Fortunately, by this point, we had stopped breaking HVAC sins and got through the job with no more disasters.
But what was the worst sin of them all? Calling the boss at the end of the day and asking if there was any more work left to do! That’s a rookie move if I’ve ever seen one-sometimes, you just have to call it a day and head home while you still can!
Let me know in the comments-what’s the biggest HVAC sin you’ve ever seen or committed? Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell so you don’t miss out on more HVAC chaos!
