Hey dude. Ran into you at Johnstone today and it was a trip getting to meet you! Just wanted to add that your videos have a great vibe. It's good to see someone in the same endless messes as the rest of us and still having a good attitude and making us laugh. Happy Holidays

It would be a great idea to keep the heating system as it is instead of installing a new one. Not only is it efficient it’s able to run on a small backup power in case of a power outage

I have literally installed and fixed thousands of those axia boilers. It is easy just to take the inducer motor out and getting to those screws is a piece of cake.

New subscriber. I have been watching your videos starting with the oldest. I am amazed at how far you have come since the early videos. Honestly, your knowledge is impressive as hell. It definitely takes me back to how I felt in the beginning and how I progressed with my troubleshooting skills and confidence. I think you are way ahead of where I was when I was your age. With all of the people hating on the trades, and the lack of people getting into the trades, it's awesome to see a bright humble guy having a genuine good time fixing shit. Thanks for spreading the positive vibes. 👍

You never saw the 1200lbs, superheated, D-type boiler in my frigate, or the 600lbs M-type boilers on aircraft carriers.

The rm7800 relay doesn’t like water. A drop of water will fry the relay. Next time try swapping the chip before the relay

You lost me when you set the meter to Ohms but then got a measurement in Volts. My new probe measures 7.3kOhms to 7.6kOhms after counting to 10 secs. This is with the boiler water hot after a burn cycle. It seems to be like measuring the resistance of a capacitor where the longer you test it the higher the resistance goes, as if it is charging up during the test procedure. Maybe we should be measuring capacitance?

Ugh. That's as bad as the flame rod on the Carrier 90%ers. Let's put it behind the combustion air pipe. Freaking genius. The little flex head bit ratchet from Harbor Freight is a good tool for those idiot screws.

What’s the pay for boiler mechanic out in NJ? Is there a union out there for metal trades like NYC has?

Too much packed in And it's not designed for hand tools as such, meters. Buy a TC LC or similar with a base

Very strange seeing a new 7800 series control bad out of the box. I work for a boiler manufacturer and we have put 10’s of thousands of these over the years on boilers. 7800L, 7800M, 7895’s, etc. We also have a few that Honeywell made specific for us. It’s a pretty robust control. Good job figuring it out. Having the display is great for troubleshooting these.

I wouldn't work on this one tbh, just offer system replacement. Not worth polishing the turd.

Had to replace a control board on a brand new KCD outside unit... hadn't even been started up once and the board was bad.. swapped it out and sent it back under warranty... KCD ran like a charm after.

Very nice catch. Glad to be retired after 50 years of working on boilers and not having to put up with that kind of crap anymore. Those types of issues are certainly frustrating. I remember when the Honeywell RM7800 series was first introduced, and it proved to be a very reliable control. Wonder what prompted that change? But I will be the first to admit that the diagnostic readout was a huge step forward. Especially coming from the vacuum tube era.
