You can place the carpets on the side of the lowest visible magma blocks to avoid needing to place a sign, lava being below the carpets works just fine.

0:43 I think you can place moss carpets and carpets on liquids if you click on the magma block that is one y coordinate higher than the warped sign. 1:55 maybe you could jump for extra speed but you'd have to break the blocks faster which might require more CPS or binding your breaking block key to a key on your keyboard but it might need to much saturation. 3:25 wait you have exactly enough carpets?
