The committee first has a closed hearing of questions where it could last all day long. There is no 5 minute time limit per person to ask questions. After that, the public hearing is scheduled. He's not running from that. He doesn't want to do a deposition, he should be ready and willing (and thrilled) to sit for a public hearing under oath. It would be advantageous for him, and because the DOJ could charge him if he incriminated himself. In a sworn hearing, he could simply plead the fifth. That's the main difference between them. A private deposition's testimony won't result in criminal charges, which means he wouldn't be able to use the 5th amendment to evade tough questions.

Try to get a resolution and try to get Hunter Biden testimony but you don't do it with the contempt because the DOJ can't enforce it because there's not enough good evidence to do it. The DOJ can look at the situation and say, that looks like you didn't try to work the deal. That looks like you want to punish a person who wanted to participate and who has participated with thousands and thousands of documents. Why would DOJ screw themselves when a judge looks at the situation and says, "no". That looks shady. Try to get the information or would you just like to think you can put Hunter in some type of jail? It can't occur because our system won't allow a judge to do any contempt. They look at what really happened. They will see one party trying to screw a party and the other one actually trying to participate. Republicans look stupid when they don't try to get the information.
