Y’all get way too emotional. Simple, team isn’t that good. I was optimistic too, but after blowing Orlando it was important to see how the team responded to DEN. They laid down vs Nuggets which was a huge negative sign then did it again vs PHX, which was my confirmation. But put a sub 500 team in front of them and the team is reds to play though! @Eastra3
@Eastra3 12 сағат бұрын
their center also grabbed 18 boards, and when they have Chet back, they won't be running small like they did last night. The Thunder even felt they had to get bigger and more physical in the off-season, don't think the Thunder are cool with being small. The Thunder also killed us with 2nd chance points in the 3rd, when we didn't have a big on the floor. Sure they didn't have a big on the floor during part of that time either, but since our players are not typically gifted at getting boards, simply having a center helps prevent 2nd chance points, especially if a team goes small.

@@wills.9422 Both are issues. The fact is that Hartenstein still got those rebounds, and that's what being so much bigger than everyone else on the floor does. If Lakers had more quality depth at the center spot, Hartenstein wouldn't have gotten 18 boards. That's my whole point.

Lebron , Rui, and Vando is plenty of depth at PF. Lebron plays 33 mins. Rui can play all those 15 when he’s not on and other minutes at backup 3. When Vando is back, lebron will be able to take more games off and he and rui can play 24 mins each. Also there’s a world where lakers get Vuc and then AD can play minutes at PF too.

Why does Rob Pelinka still have a job. It’s Lebron and AD fault for the Westbrook disaster, but it was Pelinka who broke up the the after bubble title. It was Pelinka who gave everyone a player instead of a team option. The biggest question is the had an un athletic point guard in Russell, way would they waist last year’s number 17th draft pick on another slow un athletic non shooting point guard who needs time to develop instead of a big man.

We need a 2-way point guard to justify Knecht starting in the back court as well, but a physical defensive big is long overdue and probably the most important. A 2-way wing is important, but the least important, because right now Cam Reddish is managing to give us some of that. We don't have a single point guard that is playing both ways, and we don't have a single center who will not get bullied by Jokic or Sabonis.

This is why many astute Lakers fans wanted Howard on the roster, regardless of his age he was still better than both Hayes & Woods.. It's also why many wanted the Lakers FO to pursue JV at the start of FA and not Klay who was never coming his stalling gave us all Kawhi 2019 vibes..The though that JJ & Rob weren't gonna guaranteed JV starters minutes now appears shortsighted..

@@SISKCERTWaJaVlogs Jazz are overpricing Kessler ven though he would meet our needs. Vuc is talented, but we need a better defensive center than him. Richards out of the 3 you mentions, would get pushed under the rim by Jokic and Sabonis, same as AD, Hayes, Koloko, and Woods. Also, most of those centers you mentioned would not be ok coming off the bench just because LBJ doesn't want to chase 3s in the regular season. Dwight Howard is one of the few guys that can hold his ground against Jokic without needing help, is dirt cheap, and is ok coming off the bench and having non guaranteed minutes/contract. The other guy that is in a similar boat, but has a slight bit more demands is Drummond. Howard, Drummond, and Tristan Thompson are the only centers I've seen that the Lakers have had that are strong enough to not get bullied, and have good lateral footspeed to not get toasted by perimeter players if they are switched. So Dwight isn't the only guy we can go after, but he has the skill-set we need, he's basically for free, and he has begged us to give him another shot, but no, Pelinka would rather have guys that are thinner than AD backing up AD, still forcing AD and Rui to be the main Jokic defenders, and both of them get bodied by Jokic every single time.

Time for the team to get our "Holy Grail". The only player the team needed from the moment AD joined Lakers. MYLES TURNER. Turner @ the 5 and AD @ the 4 is going to create havoc in the league. We can trade Austin Reaves. It is obvious that Austin lacks in defense and that Knecht is better suited for the team. A starting line-up of Lebron, AD, Turner, Reddish and Knecht = INSTANT ring. You have 4 guys that can shoot the 3 and you also have a NON-FLYING zone inside the perimeter having 5 trees out there.
@Eastra3

I agree with your overall sentiment, but we need an actual point guard in that line-up.

@@Eastra3 You've got one. The best of all time. Lebron. The best Point Forward of all time. The moment Vando returns the starting lineup of Bron handling the ball and AD, Turner, Knecht all shooting threes and Vando being a defensive dynamo is going to create havoc around the league. Myles Turner is the key and im screaming this 3y now. Imagine trying to score on us with AD the 2nd best blocker in the league and Turner the 3rd best! Or having Bron and Vando also there waiting for you. 4 TREES. Forget it. As for the offense? Well, pick and roll and pick and pop with Bron, AD and Turner are going to destroy any opponent. Ohhhhh and Knecht also lurking in the corner. Good luck defending this starting line-up. Reaves has to go. He is an outdated, smaller, worse shooting etc version of Knecht and he is also overtrying last games for some strange reason. I bet that it stems from the popularity of Knecht. So Reaves has to be the guy moving to Indy along with eg 1-2 other players in order to get our HOLY GRAIL, Myles Turner.
@Eastra3
@Eastra3 10 сағат бұрын
@@aRationalMan I understand the strengths of that line-up, but do you know the weaknesses of that line-up? In a basic Pick n Roll/Pop offense, LBJ can no longer blow past people at will. Teams can switch onto him with bigs and even guards to stop that action. Lebron as your only playmaker can be done in burst, but not consistently like when he was younger. It leads to most of his turnovers. There is a reason why LBJ wasn't satisfied with Kyrie in Cleveland, even when LBJ was in prime form, because being the only player on the team trying to run an offense is taxing. Since he has been on the Lakers, we have helped him out by giving him proper point guards to at least keep him from having to carry the playmaking load. In 2020, he was still in prime form, so having a true point guard coming off the bench was sufficient, but as he ages, and plays off the ball more, others need to create more space fore him than him creating space for them simply by driving and kicking, so that now requires a starting point guard. That is why Lebron and AD vouched for Westbrook originally, of course before it turned into a debacle. Even afer Westbrook, we got D'lo, and when D'lo wasn't in the starting line-up or didn't play, we were noticeably worse, and LBJ had to do too much. I'm not saying we need D'lo to start again, but I'm saying we need a true point guard next to LBJ. Now that we are running more of a motion offense than we ever had before, we need more than one playmaker in any unit, starting or bench. Read and react motion offenses are way more complex than simple pick n roll / Iso offense, and may teams are coming around to noticing that, and starting to run hybrid motion offenses. You need multiple players who can make the right read and pass on time and on target. If LBJ is the only one in the line-up who can do that, it will hurt our offense. Yes, your line-up does many things good, and it has good 3 point shooters, but an open 3 point shot is optimal, not a contested 3 point shot. If the offense isn't being ran properly, those 4 guys who can stroke it from 3 will be contested, and it wont matter that they are good 3 point shooters. Of course AD and LBJ drawing doubles in the post will create open 3 point shots alone, but we still need playmaking and space creation from the perimeter to be top notch, as post ups can't be our only way of getting guys open. Screens create the most space, and with Turner and AD, we would have good screen setting. Of course my issue with your line-up isn't the twin towers, it's simply LBJ being the only playmaker. Also, Turner isn't available, but there is a center that can shoot and play defense like Turner, that also wont get cooked by Jokic, and that's DeAndre Ayton. Blazers aren't going to hold on to both Clingan and Ayton, so I'm sure Ayton can be had for a price. Ayton isn't as good of a shot blocker as Turner, but he's a better rebounder, which is more important than blocking or altering shots. Securing possessions is paramount. For me, this would be my 2 optimal line-ups depending on whether LBJ wants to player perimeter defense in the regular season or not: LBJ will actually play defense line-up: PG: 2-way true point guard (hard to find) SG: Dalton Knecht SF: LBJ PF: AD C: True 2-way starting center AD can pair with for the foreseeable future. LBJ wants to still coast on defense line-up: PG: 2-way true point guard (hard to find) SG: Dalton Knecht SF: 2-way 3/D wing PF: LBJ C: AD Back-up center: Dwight or some type of center that wont get bullied by Jokic, and allows AD to play the 4 when LBJ sits or plays the SF for 10 minutes. See, because of LBJ's age, we are still building around LBJ, and forcing AD out of his preferred position. This is why AD cannot wait for LBJ to retire. Its actually not easy to find an optimal starting unit, because we have to baby cater to LBJ's load management strategy.

You might be on to something. Laker commenters wanted to trade him at the start of the year and while I tend to ride with AR, Knecht's early season play changes things. If we get a better defender and slasher at the starting 2 spot that frees up Bron, AD, & Knecht to put on an offensive clinic. I still like Dlo off the bench in the microwave role so rather than Rui you could trade AR and a 1st rounder for a high-end 5 and an athletic 2 guard (to pair with a Miles Turner or Kessler) rather than getting a slow-footed Euro on the decline.

Rob “Plan B” Pelinka is the reason the Lakers are so MID! He can never seem to get the trade he wants and the one time he did have a trade he wanted for Buddy and Turner panic set in and he turned to Westbrook. That only set us back 3+ years!!! Rob is the one who told us to wait till the Summer because they were targeting a star, didn’t happen and FOX Sports have made more moves than the Lakers. The dude is a dookie GM and our Roster reflects his leadership. Get rid of Rob and bring in Bob Myers and watch what happens…. But nah they all friends in the front office so we are stuck being mediocre and operating on all Robs 2nd options. They are worried about the future when they have the talent to win championships the next 2-3 years if they make the OBVIOUS moves we all can see and stop worrying about 2028 and beyond. There’s no more excuses Rob! Time is running out on maximizing your talent.
