BREAKING: Miami Hurricanes QB Jacurri Brown Enters Transfer Portal

Miami Hurricanes quarterback Jacurri Brown is entering the Transfer Portal. Brown has three years of eligibility remaining. The Hurricanes had five quarterbacks on scholarship and it was assumed that one of them would leave the program before fall camp begins. Brown was a part of Miami's 2022 recruiting class. He threw for 230 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 INT's in '22 as a freshman. He started Miami's bowl game in 2023, throwing for 181 yards, a touchdown and an interception against Rutgers. He added 57 rushing yards and two scores in that game.

Jacurri is a great athlete and he has a great future ahead. That being said he is still a work in progress, has a unbelievably strong arm, but his touch is still not there. He’s better off going to a non power 5 school and get lots of reps vs teams he can out class athletically, and work on his passing techniques. He probably was not playing at Miami this season. I’m sure rooting for him unless his interests do not align with our Canes interests. 😊

If a coaches job is on the line and the team can win a game all that redshirt stuff goes out the door if that player is needed at that moment and can help win a game. So if a chip is on the line and all you have at your disposal is a kid who has been deemed a redshirt but you need him and he could win would you risk losing the chip ?

Good luck to him, I wish he would have at least stayed one more season and transferred in December as opposed to April. In my opinion a quarterback transferring in April puts you in a position where you have to learn a new offense in a short period of time. The odds of you being in the two deep of a decent or good team when you transfer in April as a quarterback is slim.

Took an entire season to perfect his craft and looked like the same exact QB as he did his freshman year. He is a flash play, but can't make the simple check downs and screens that a QB has to make 85% of the time. He stuck with us last year and helped us out in the bowl game, and I appreciate that, but he just hasn't progressed/improved much at all. He was never going to be a starter at Miami and won't be at a major college program. This isn't hate, just reality.
