Content creation is my job so I’m in the same boat with social media addition. Every time I upload I get sucked into a scroll. It takes away so much of my time and time I could be putting into my creative process. I so resonate with everything you said. I have been glued to my phone the same way. But I realised, when I put my phone down even though I get FOMO from all the new info and news I feel so much better just walking in my garden or just being away from my phone. Smartphones are awesome little Swiss Army knives of technology but they were never meant to be a 24/7 distraction box. It’s wrong! And I am always putting off important things to scroll for the dopamine hit. I feel like a drug addict. This shit is wild! The post-scroll-guilt makes me miss my childhood, which is sad, coz I can still do everything I used to. I don’t read, play playstation, go to the beach, tinker, draw. I always loved that I had simple yet eclectic hobbies. I could do it all again if I just put the phone down. Oh, sidetone, I’m a technology reviewer and I keep getting ads for the Brick and I honestly wrote it off. Thought it was probably just a stupid gimmick. But I’m really convinced. Might have to try this out to help me get out of the loop! Anyway, this is one of the best videos I’ve seen on KZbin in a while. Excellent story telling but also amazing colour grading and love the different font styles (obsessed with the funky shaped text) and on-screen graphics! Thanks for putting in the work to bring this to us and I really hope you keep going with this. You are needed as a content creator, not content consumer! - Elly

This makes you really think about the influence of your phone, tablet, computer, social media and the internet as a whole. Not only are we using technologies that are designed to make us addicted to consume mindlessly, damage our self image and waste a big portion of our time and therefore blocking the chance to self reflect at the moment and to work on your dreams and goals of your future self.

100% - I've never had an insane addiction to scrolling and social media but I notice it creeps a little still in unsuspecting places. I've always had an urge however, to be doing something, constantly, and it overwhelms me so much sometimes I end up scrolling to fill the gap, and just prevents me from getting important stuff done. But lately I've been working on my attention span and I also managed to narrow my focus to learning coding and practicing consistently which was something I've been trying to get deeper into for a few years now, and a few other things, which I am proud of. Its a form of detoxing for me I suppose.

Yes! Doing things that requires full attention for a long period of time is the way to go. Excluding doom scrolling of course. 100% Great video man. The visuals and story telling go together perfectly! As for your question at the end of the video, I nearly lost my life 6 years ago and had a lot of time to myself to recover. For my first month in the hospital I didn’t have my phone with me. I realized how important it was to face reality, be alone with my intrusive thoughts and the face the fears i had while I was there. As I recovered and gained back my phone, I realized that mindless scrolling didn’t lead to me feeling better. So since then I block off the first hour in the morning for prayer and exercise. And the last couple hours of the day for reading, journaling or spending time with my wife. In between while I don’t have that brick device, I do block addictive apps which allows me to focus on work. Cheers to you for this video. You’ve gained a sub from me!

@alex-boke2 ай бұрын

100%. Your storytelling and high quality production values just drew me right in. So impressed, man! Anyone can have really nice equipment, but it takes this type of talent and passion to make those tools deliver! May I ask, what camera did you shoot this on? It looks so much like film stock.
@alex-boke2 ай бұрын
Thank you! You can create images like this with any camera capable to shoot 4K 10bit. Color grading is where magic happens. I shot most of it on canon, except for a few shots on blackmagic. (Canon R6ii and BMPCC6kpro) I will upload some colour grading videos in the future. Stay tuned. 🙏🏼📦🦾💕
