I’ve said this before: a lot of people claim that Lamar doesn’t perform well against the blitz, but the real issue is that Lamar and the offense struggle against zone coverage and four-man rushes. Teams like Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland use these strategies often, and they consistently cause the most problems for us. This highlights another area where the organization has failed Lamar by not providing him with a physical, sure-handed wide receiver on the outside to combat defenses like these. Players like George Pickens, Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, Amari Cooper, DK Metcalf, Courtland Sutton, and AJ Brown fit that mold. Instead, we have receivers who are 5'10" or shorter, lack physicality, and don’t consistently create great separation. In old-school football, these kinds of receivers are often referred to as “safety blankets, and it’s frustrating that Lamar hasn’t had one. This has been a recurring issue, and it’s time for the organization to address it properly.

The reason our offense is no longer “pick your poison” is because we had to almost completely get rid of RPOs due to the OLine getting penalties almost every single time we ran them… they NEED to swap out Mekari & Faalele for Cleveland & Voorhees, RPOs are what makes this offense run so well so having to not run them due to how disgustingly bad our guards are should absolutely not be an option…
