Human-alien hybrids would normally be impossible, probably different nucleic acids and coding for different amino acids. But if you understood the functions of the genes or gene networks then you could produce human genes (DNA not XNA) that could act as an "overlay" to enhance or suppress certain features. Just speculating. Seems extremely difficult to me, but I'm no geneticist. Easier to work out what makes some people smarter, stronger, whatever, and tweak that.
