Both companies are very well aligned for value quality and reliability, the last 5 motor vehicles I’ve owned have been 3 Honda Cars and 2 Honda motorcycles - any merger wouldn’t put me off buying another.

Hosan! 😅 They should give up the Chinese market because of historical issues that haven't been forgotten in China. Both companies are making the vehicles that don't appeal to the consumer anymore. These days Korean autos are everywhere. Why not make a Skyline GTR for 60k or a 240sx for 30k. Give the consumers what they want. Sink or swim.

Maybe they could have a new shared rear wheel drive platform that they use for both a new Silvia and S2000, competing with both Mazda's MX5 and Toyota's GR86. Someone should get in touch with them and give them the idea.

Which companies ethos and work practices will win out ? A bit like Boeing and Lockheed. Honda seem more innovative and engineering based to me. Nissan are very conservative imo. Obviously the skyline was the exception.

I think what tradicional companies are against with, it is not their scale big or small, putting 2 slowly phasing out companies together can be a scary thought. I believe none of these 2 companies are in need of merger but what desperately needed is a transformation in corporate culture, in defining digital life change to consumer-product expectation, a more frictionless shopping experience, a product that is not spec and styling driven, rethink cost structure in ai manufacturing and transaction models, that can produce cars that are affordable and works for consumers’ lives.

Interesting...not really a fan since Renault came in on nissan but apart from qashqai or xtrail I don't like the brand much anymore unlike the older nissans like primeras and almeras. But i must admit the new Ariya electric was very impressive despite the high price tag it really was a step up or two from the leaf. Honda not only has the the E but ev1 too aswell as several full hybrid models so its moving along although going electric isn't always better not yet anyway
