We can't help it now. Tierney did the same. He is on 13 million a year and we got 4 months out of him and stuck in that contract. He will get the best medical attention money can buy. I am pissed as well as sympathetic tbh. His attitude stank early season as well. He also caused that with clumsy tackle and was large part of his Brazil injury. You James have forgotten that Mikel and Edu kicked out all the scouts to go for a data driven approach to player scouting. It means we will end up signing numbers instead of actual players. Players that stat padding has helped build their profiles. 100 passes completed in a game (all side and backwards passes). Attackers that defend and win duals instead of attackers that find space and open portions of the field for fellow players to thrive on. Data in sports is very subjective and it is the hill Mikel has chosen to die on. We need scouts that can sniff out raw creative talents and not just stats.

I like James and AFTV but I’d thought by now and with their Sky connections they’d have more knowledge about HOW football works. Injuries or not, no club can just sign replacements on loan or permanent. The salaries still have to be paid, and we can’t hoard players like Chelsea. The key failure at all clubs is their academies do not produce young players who are ready for 1st team insertion when long term injuries strike. White, Tomiyasu, Saka, Timber, Jesus, Odegaard… there are no academy players aside from MAYBE Skelley who can do the business full time.
