The ICJ did what was expected, namely, they told Israel to cease and desist fighting in Rafah. Israel has a clever response. Iran vows to expand their war against Israel, Putin offers a Ukraine cease fire, and US says it will be part of the peacekeeping force in Gaza after the war is over
Headline 1 ICJ orders Israel to halt operations in Rafah that risk destruction of civilian population
Former Supreme Court president Aharon Barak, who serves as an ad-hoc judge on the ICJ bench in the case brought against Israel by South Africa, writes, in his dissenting opinion, that the majority decision “requires Israel to halt its military offensive in the Rafah Governorate only in so far as is necessary to comply with Israel’s obligations under the Genocide Convention.”
Therefore, according to Barak, “Israel is not prevented from carrying out its military operation in the Rafah Governorate as long as it fulfills its obligations under the Genocide Convention.”
“As a result,” Barak continues, “the measure is a qualified one, which preserves Israel’s right to prevent and repel threats and attacks by Hamas, defend itself and its citizens, and free the hostages.”

Headline 3 Iran Buries Late President Ebrahim Raisi, Vowing Expansion of War on Israel
Iran buried President Ebrahim Raisi on Thursday, wrapping up a days-long funeral process that began shortly after his death on Sunday in a helicopter crash.
The takeaway were the words of the Supreme Leader to Haniyeh the leader of Hamas....
“The promise to eliminate Israel will be kept, and we will see the day when Palestine extends from the sea to the river,” Khamenei told Hamas kingpin Haniyeh, an awkward moment for Hamas apologists in the West who spent the past seven months feverishly denying that “from the sea to the river” is a genocide chant.
The takeaway is that Iran will continue to work to eliminate Israel … something we have known all along.

As Israel moves forward with operations in Rafah meant to dismantle Hamas’ military and political role in Gaza, Washington D.C. based news site Politico reported Thursday that the that the United States is considering taking a significant role in the post-war civilian government of Gaza.
We'll see how well that plays in Israel...
Summing Up
The verdict of the ICJ will not have any effect on Israel’s battle in Rafah since they are going out of their way to keep the civilian population safe. At Raisi’s funeral Iran vows to carry forward its plan to destroy Israel. Putin has offered up a possibility for peace in Ukraine and the US says it will take a large role in the new Gaza after the war.
Therefore, many things, as usual, are up in the air right now.
