I want Lester to always remember that his teaching never stopped when he left that school. How many of us learned a thing or two from his "ramblings"? Lester taught children in school, but he teaches all of us something every day. Whether it be something about life, the farm, or just gives us a little pick-me-up when we're down. Or if he needs to vent and we can sympathize, he reminds us that we're all human. We make mistakes, we hurt, we forgive, we move on. We deal with things... and I've watched so many of these videos that I can think of quite a few videos that fit. Teaching runs through his blood... and he can't help but teach. It's not his job, it's his life. So whether you're in a classroom, in a store, or just a random viewer of his videos, he has a lesson for you. Thank you Mr. Morrow.

Lester, I hate to see you leave teaching. I would have loved for my kids to have a teacher like you. The pandemic has been hard on everyone and we need teachers like you. As I watched this, the very last segment you showed was you talking to other teachers, oh Lester, you would make an amazing inspirational speaker for other teachers, college students, and many other groups relating to education. You never know, this might be a new adventure for you and your family. We love you Lester

Congratulations! It is a sad and Joyful thing when a TRUE TEACHER retires. True teachers who do it for the love of the kids are rare. But I will miss the relationships I’ve made over the past 26 years.

@@shalakruep After looking up 'paraprofessional' I just learned that I did that starting 45 years ago! I was a supervisor teaching and working with handicapped adults for over 12 years. It was the best job I ever had. I believe that they taught me more than I ever taught them! When the 'professionals' demanded that we stop joking around with our people, to de-escalate a bad situation that was brewing, I left. We were told that using humor was not good for them. An RN, After 26 years, I retired 3 years ago. I feel like it has taken me this long to decompress from that hectic lifestyle. Giving of my self every work day to patients & families & co-workers, getting thanks or smirks or hugs in return. I thoroughly enjoyed 1:1 & teaching in small groups. Sometimes I forget I was a nurse, until my elderly parents asks something about medication, or wound care. It's a process, for sure & certain!

Well, Lester, I'm at a loss for words, something that is rare for me. I am happy for you, and sad for all the kids who won't have the privilege of being one of your students. I'm happy for all of the animals who will get even more time with 'Dad' as well as Lex and L.E., and Jami, too. I am just guessing here, but when the former students of your school are asked the inevitable question "Who was your favorite teacher ever?" they will quickly, without any hesitation whatsoever answer, "Mr. Morrow, of course!". To educate, encourage, and entertain teenagers and leave such a positive experience and impression on them is NOT something that comes easily for most. But my heart goes out to all the students that are missing the bond with the teachers due to this pandemic. School is a refuge for a lot of children, due to uncertainties at home. Lester, my late father was a bus driver for 20-odd years. His last run was a mini-bus of primary school country kids (ages 5-12). He used to relish in his Christmas presents from the kids. He'd have them all lined up on Christmas morning & open them up. Two of "his kids" even came to his funeral - on a Saturday - in their school uniforms. 100% kids & their bus drivers have a wonderful bond. He loved them, and they loved him back. Gonna be some happy babies at the sanctuary to have dad around more. At least you’re keeping your foot in the door by keeping the bus driver job. The government is taking the joy out of everything & we’re allowing it under false pretenses. I know things will work out fir the best, you’re a good man Lester

I taught for 37 years before I retired. I missed the students, but I didn't miss all the paperwork, grading, meetings, and standardized testing we had to do in fourth grade. Your days will still be full. I don't know how I had time to teach now as I am busy all the time. You will be too. Enjoy your retirement.

Lester, the animals are lucky to have you & you are lucky to have them! It seems to me that you are a teacher wherever you are..you've taught me a lot just from the farm! So I think you will always be a fabulous teacher even though your not in a classroom. I wish you well!! "Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end."

Teachers have a hard job, especially in today's world. I often wondered where you got all the energy to do all the jobs that you did. Plus, you always gave the best at all you do! I am so thankful to have found your videos, not only yours, but Jami's and L.E.'s. Congratulations on your retirement! The school district and students are losing an excellent teacher!

As a retired preschool educator I commend you for the decision to pause your teaching profession at this time. I’m so blessed to have made that decision prior to the Covid issues. Congrats to you and for staying involved in the children’s lives but in other ways. ❤️

Congratulations!!! I retired from education several years ago, after 19 years as a high school math teacher followed (after getting my doctorate from UGA) by 14 years as a high school administrator - AP and, later, Career & Technical Academy Principal. I don’t have to tell you how difficult it is to be a teacher these days - sometimes it seems that teachers have so many checks/balances/“i’s” to dot/“t’s” to cross that the kids, themselves, get swallowed up in the quagmire of educational rhetoric; the what and how that was fun to teach/learn in the past, is sometimes “analyzed” until it’s either no fun or it disappears into oblivion. Instead of teaching and caring about the whole child, teachers are expected to take apart the child and address a hodgepodge of different aspects of the child, reducing the child to a collection of numbers on a rubric. I know you will enjoy being home with your menagerie of babies - it will be like a huge load lifted from your shoulders. Congratulations, again!

From what I am seeing and from the love that you can hear in your voice, you have done amazing things for all those kids. You still have an impact even driving the bus. You still make sure that they make it to school and have what they need. You will always have an impact on your community. For that, even though we haven't met, I am proud and honored that I can call you my friend and mentor. Thank you Lester.

Yes, I'm in total agreement with you. Lester sure did make an impact on their life. The one story that sticks in my mind is the gentleman that Lester gave his jacket to. (He did give it back to Lester along with a story of how Lester changed his life.) Lester, now you can embark on new endeavors. God bless you with WHATEVER the future holds for you. Godspeed

Wow! Thanks for sharing. How exciting ... A new season for you. It's smart to recognize and stay true to what works for you Lester. So many times people who no longer love their work, remain because they feel they have to or for their retirement benefits and they become stale. You're smart!
