The judge can also decide to make him serve 4 years with each additional charge served consecutively, resulting in a total of 4 years.

@@razamanaz2002 That is true, though I have heard rumors that he can petition to vote again after serving his sentence. What that means if he only serves probation? I'd think that is his sentence as much as prison sentence would be, so he would definitely not be allowed to vote in 2024 at least (with a minimum 1/2 year of probation). But it would be wise to ask someone who is not guessing, or relying on second hand legal info. Hopefully Glenn can answer this later.

Its an oversight in the law because convicted felons couldn’t vote, so you would expect that to extend to presidential runs. I think the founders forgot to or expected that it would be automatically implied.

The sentencing has nothing to do with the government, only the bringing of the case. There's a separation of powers remember? Executive and judiciary are separate, and the latter is responsible for sentencing cheap thugs such as dump.

No, I don't think it does. It's great that he was found guilty but he's not yet been sentenced to anything. Also, in your country a convicted felon can still be elected to office... ??? When the people speak (in the election) and he's NOT in the White House, then and only then, could it be said America's standing is still strong. I hope very much for that situation to come to pass.
