They're hiring black coaches in situations where they are set up for failure, then firing them after one year after the predictable result happens (and even keeping the GMs who constructed the bad rosters, so it's not about total accountability and rebuilding) This could be a way to protect the league/owners from the Brian Flores lawsuit, where they can say, "Hey, we hired them! They just didn't do well!" P.S. No, this isn't playing the race card; it's playing the logic card and connecting the dots and finding the patterns. Just so happens this pattern is race related.

@danielevans93794 сағат бұрын
@ Regardless of the color of their skin it is ridiculous to only give a coach one season to turn a program around. A coach lives and dies by his QUARTERBACK. Does Bill Belichick even win one Super Bowl if Drew Bledsoe had been his QB instead of Brady? Antonio had nothing but scrubs in that position all year and Mayo had a journey man and a rookie. It’s an exaggeration to say they “lost the locker room” these guys weren’t Urban Meyer. Most of the locker room hated Chuck Noll his first season in Pittsburgh and they only won one game! Today he would have been fired by these modern owners. They both deserved another season.

Pierce had a better rated roster and easier schedule this year. He picked his own staff. The team regressed and he was never accountable. He was the reason Adams acted up, but instead of talking to him like a coach he decided to use the media and that eventually got Adams traded. Pierce picked Marvin Lewis to be his asst head coach. Marvin who coached Andy Dalton for years , and this season was given 5 day notice that they will face Andy and the lowly Panthers. Andy passed for 319 yards @ 70% with 3 tds. You had time to prepare for Andy, and you made him look like Tom Brady . And it was a home game! Pierce ruined Long Beach Poly when he was the head coach, He didn't do anything at ASU aside take parents to strip clubs and used the boosters to buy cars from his dealership. Oh and he got his son probation instead of jail for touching little boys in College. AP is a sick person

@DixonCider1234 commitment to another 10 year rebuild. Maybe you can answer this question: Who are the Raiders going to get as head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator? You don't have a franchise quarterback. The quarterback class this year are going to need at least 3 years to develop. The players are going to have to learn a new scheme which is going to be another 2 to 3 years before they're even good. Maxx is gonna be gone because we're going to need draft capital for next year not this year. By that time hopefully Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert have fallen off a cliff. A lot of comments here talking that AP was set up to fail and that this doesn’t happen to white coaches. Y’all obviously didn’t watch much of the Raiders this season. I watched almost every play this year and can I say without a doubt that Pierce was in over his head. He made dumb game management decisions every game. He didn’t seem to learn from his mistakes. He fired two coaches mid-season that he himself hired. He wasn’t a good talent evaluator ie. bringing Sincere McCormick up from the practice squad who was obviously this best back on the team only after injuries forced him to do so. So he can’t find assistant coaching talent, he can’t evaluate the roster, he didn’t have much input into game planning, he was bad at managing the game, all of this with having Marvin Lewis, Tom Coughlin, and Rob Ryan to lean on for advice which means he probably didn’t follow trusted advice very well. He’s just a terrible coach. That’s why he was fired, it’s that simple

AP was fired because he made terrible in game decisions almost every game. Season opener vs Chargers they are driving and have a 4th and short on the Chargers side of the field. He decides to punt. Chargers get it and drive down and score. Game over. Game after game he chose to punt on 4th and short or kick a fg. This team couldn’t score over 20 points each and every game because of his poor choices. Clock management was terrible as well. Then after losing 4 in a row he’s on the sidelines smiling and laughing at the end of the game. Crosby called him and the staff out in week 12 or 13 for lack of accountability and no structure at all in practices. Crosby speaking against him said it all because he wanted AP as head coach. One last thing was they said he was out gambling and drinking til 3am the night before the Panthers blow out loss. He loved the idea of wearing the Raiders gear and saying how he would bring back the old Raider way but he had no clue what he was doing. Besides you can’t bring back the old Raider way in the current NFL. Different style play and way different rules. Players are even different. Need a coach who will adapt to the current NFL not some yahoo who runs his mouth and can’t back it up

It’s called being black lame duck coaches. Organizations know they are going to suck the upcoming year and don’t necessarily love the coaching candidates available at the time so they hire the black coach they have no intention on keeping past 1 year barring unforeseen success to check off that box for the likely no win scenario and when they do as expected they fire them next coaching cycle because they get a whole new batch of candidates to try & fall in love with
