big shout out and thanks to you for both of these series because while I have known all of the chase era full season champions for many years i'd never seen anyone take the time to break everything down race by race until you did, and it was nice seeing someone finally tackle the pre 1975 seasons with winston cup style points because that's something i'd wondered for a long time. I started a google doc tracking various stats across all 75 seasons of nascar history such as years the championship came down to the finale, point totals of champions, and other things I found interesting, I could email it to you if you were interested in seeing it. Excited to see what the future holds for this channel

If Byron had gotten the 60 point penalty, Denny Hamlin would have won the title by only 3 points in this format!

Maybe but Hamlin also had a 25 point penalty for wreck8ng Ross Chastain earlier in the year so I think it balances out

As a fan of both Chase and Bubba, I do agree that their stunts at Vegas and Charlotte were uncalled for. Just hoping that the two continue to learn from their mistakes. I actually thought Bell would be closer in points with Byron but I gotta remember that this is a different format from the one that The Iceberg and Ianperez48 use. Great video tho! Onto 2024

The nascar Mexico series implemented a playoff system last year with 6 drivers over the last 2 races. So if you wanted additional breaking the chase content there would be that

@Dupontman627 he did, but those are basically his only two bright spots there. Everything else has been disappointment after disappointment. Kinda how Gordon won at Texas in 2009 but everything else there for him was gut punch after gut punch.

The funny thing is Byron would still win under the Winston format with penalties by 17 points over Hamlin, and would only take the points lead at the final race.

Another thing about the Byron penalty, the 60 points is inflated due to that being under the stage point era. Since stages were introduced in 2017, the maximum amount of points that can be scored in one race is 60, while in 2016 (the format you are using) the maximum points available is 45 (correct me if I’m wrong). So if NASCAR handed out that full race’s worth of points penalty with the 2016 format, they would’ve only penalized Byron and the other Hendrick drivers 45 points. With this Byron would still be the 2023 champion with a now much closer gap over Hamlin. I may disagree with how you don’t like penalties, but that doesn’t matter as William Byron would win the championship either way with your format.

I am just gonna say this. If you still don't think that Truex season collapse was that terrible, well, under my format Truex started those final 10 races, 84 points ahead of Byron (the most amount of points you can make up in a race is 86.) And he finished the season, 187 points behind Byron, 5th in the standings. - that's a seasons collapse just as bad as Kyle Busch in 2008. side note: anybody surprised that Byron won?

To be fair, Byron wouldn’t won the Winston cup championship even with the point penalty, no reason to believe he wouldn’t have here either

He got a 60 point penalty, but Denny had a 25 point penalty. Byron would still be champion, but 1 point over Buescher.

@@jordankile6690 that’s 60 with the current points format. That’s the equivalent of a max points day which was 185 in Winston cup terms. Either way, Byron ends up as champion
