Breaking the Silence | Documentary | Outreach Club | IIT (BHU) Varanasi

On November 2nd, a disturbing event unfolded on our campus as three individuals on a motorcycle confronted a pair of students. While holding the young man, goons forcibly took the girl away and subjected her to molestation at gun point.
Immediate actions were taken by the student parliament which led to a protest where students have demanded for a closed campus.
The members of the Outreach Club documented the opinions of protesters to show our support for the victims.
As a result of the protest, boundary walls will be constructed to ensure the safety of the campus, CCTV cameras will be installed at the earliest and immediate legal action will be taken by the college.

BUT THE QUESTION REMAINS....what about security of girls in BHU campus who are not from IIT.....Aap log ne protest isliye kiya tha ki EK LADKI ke saath aisa hua ya isliye kiya tha ki EK IIT KI LADKI ke saath aisa hua hai....No doubt construction of wall will provide security to IIT campus but does this serve the purpose for which the protest was organised??....this QUESTION STILL REMAINS.....It is partial success guysss......A LOT NEEDS TO BE DONE.....struggle is not over.....join our protest on 4th november as every girl deserves a safe campus

Statistically most no of crimes in iit bhu are done by non iitans,so isolating our campus would be beneficial for iit bhu ,yes women safety should be considered serious in all the places, but we can only demand for our iit campus ,so we are doing it ,if you have better idea then please put it forward

First thing the campus can do proper vehicle pass/ digital pass (like my gate app) with full verification and not allowed any one with out students pass or visiters pass and provide a separate way for Mandir and Hospital and responsibilities must be fixed for CCTV maintenance and data record. You people are digitally smart and for the time being you can design a digital/ physical boundary around IIT Banaras campus...... we general people is with you.

Closed campus of iit bhu? The culprits could have done the same with any other girl of other faculty of BHU. With demands now accepted, the protest is over, the culprits are yet to be caught. Had this event happened in Delhi or in a big city, the police would have been on a Fastrack mode and the protest would have continued until the culprits are caught.

No closed campus. I, as a mathematics student of ISc, BHU, strongly oppose the partitioning of BHU Safety of women should be the concern for every student of BHU, not specifically for IIT BHU, which was a former institute of BHU itself under the control BHU Controller office. Now, they are saying they want a separate place. No, a big NO. Every part of BHU is accessible to every BHU student, be it ISc or IIT or IMS or FMS or any other faculty, department or institute. The outsiders should be prohibited to enter BHU, as a whole, not only in IIT BHU Under the eyes of the founder Malviya ji, a girl of IIT BHU is equally important as a girl of ISc BHU or IMS BHU or any other institute, dept or faculty. Do not discriminate between girls. And yes, if you still have problem, IIT should just pack its backpacks and leave the campus of BHU, and handover the engineering campus's administration to the BHU administration, make it again as Institute of Technology, BHU as it was prior to 2012. First the IIT has taken the land, resources and faculty of BHU and now, its saying they will not give access to the land of BHU to its own students, students of BHU other than those of IIT, shame on you. BHU will not be parted at any cost. The culprits should be strictly punished but what bad has non-IIT students of BHU done to you. Why are you snatching their rights? Every student of BHU has the right to access all lands of BHU, be it IIT or anywhere inside BHU. If IIT has a problem, they better leave the campus and shift your IIT anywhere else. Jai Hind

We are in an IIT. Almost all IITs have all night culture. We compare ourselves with other IITs not some central university like BHU. Roaming inside IIT Varanasi campus should be as safe as it is in IIT D or Kanpur. And as far as couples are considered it is their choice. Who are you to judge them ?
