As a Yoruba man, I cannot but agree more on the alleged vendetta between the president and former president and former head of state. WS may also have personal vendetta against against Baba OO, which may date back to his arrest in 1966 during his student activism days, when he allegedly attempted to take over a radio station. I am not a fan of APC nor the president, I voted for Peter Obi, and I have moved on from the election results. However, I dare say that each region of the country have their own achilles heel. The Igbos have their own, Hausas have their own, likewise Yorubas. There is a foundation for changing the anthems which is the 2014 Constitutional Conference. The election is concluded and is now history. We should all move on from there…!

Balderdash! Have you read Soyinka's account of what transpired between himself and Obasanjo (then the military Head of State) decades ago? Obasanjo commissioned him and other scholars to "steal" the original Orí Olókun bronze head on display at a museum in the United Kingdom in order to have it on display for the Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC) to be held in Lagos in 1977. The military government had earlier asked the British government to lend it the artefact but got no positive response. The bronze head had been earlier taken away by the British colonialists. On getting there, it was discovered that it was a replica that was on display and they'd have been caught and jailed for theft. He and his other collaborators escaped by sheer luck. On getting back to Nigeria, they sought an audience with Obasanjo but he refused to see them and denied ever sending them on such errand. This, to Soyinka, was a height of betrayal and felt Obasanjo should not be trusted with sensitive leadership positions anymore. They know each other. The account is in Soyinka's memoirs entitled You must set forth at dawn and Obasanjo has never for once denied the story. We should not wallow in ignorance by believing every cock and bull story forced down our throats. Let Obasanjo deny the story.
