BREAKING: U.S. Senate Advances Aid to Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel

A $95.34 billion bill that includes aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan advanced in the U.S. Senate on Thursday after Republicans blocked compromise legislation that included a long-sought overhaul of immigration policy. Senators backed a procedural motion by 67-32, exceeding the 60-vote threshold to advance the bill. Seventeen Republicans voted in favor, in a surprising shift after they blocked the broader bill on Wednesday.

I live 5 miles from the US border and most ordinary people here are completely confounded by what the Senate and House have been doing. Common phrase? WTF? Maybe Johnson will get the message, along with enough others to just GET ONE damned thing accomplished this year, support for a growing democracy fighting to stay that way. If anyone should capitulate, it's Russia, Putin and the upper echelons. I DO send money, have done going on two years, to the Ukranian military forces, volunteers, civilians. I'm definitely not wealthy, but damnit every dime is worth it if just one Ukranian life is kept alive.

One thing I have learned about politics in the US, is people who blindly support one party or the other don't make educated choices. I vote for the woman or man I feel will do the right thing for the people. It never really works out for the people, but I don't pledge my allegiance to anything except our country. Every election I have ever voted in since 1986, only really gives the voters two bad options. I don't think that will ever change. But, I do learn about the ones I do and don't vote for. The Congress of the United States is a bicameral system. Unfortunately, it goes to the house which the speaker refuses to bring any Ukrainian aid to the floor. My assumption is the bill is dead on arrival. Unless Republicans can get pressured into doing the right thing. fat chance.
