@@lostalone9320 Roger that - it’s a card where without listening to LR and watching LSV, I never would have guessed it to be a Cube bomb. One of my favorite things about Vintage Cube is how it makes good use of cards that are mostly irrelevant in constructed play.

His only weakness is he likes blue a little too much imo but that could be said of his entire MTG career. It’s not a terrible leak either since he knows blue card interactions better than almost anyone which allows for more comfortable drafts and deck building. It just leads to some drafts where Mardu was the optimal deck but he’s on Grixis instead.

Moxen are certainly good, but in cube you need to be drafting a real deck, and if you have key pieces in the same pack then yes you should take them over a mox.

Question for you, against a new opponent, even if you were for sure losing the game, is it sometimes worth it to let them play a bit more spells, to see the deck?

It’s always worth it unless you are running out of clock. You always try to see an extra card or two before the next match.

It's also why if you're getting brain freeze'd, count and make sure it's lethal - don't let your opp see your whole deck!

Whit 4 mana up, any removal for 2 or less is going to let Lilly live and if she does we are in big problem. This way they need two answers, AND we progress the board giving the opponent less time to catch up. If it was a less threatening planeswalker, or if most removals in the cube where 3cmc keeping spell pierce up makes sense.

i actually think academy is better than moxes now its ceiling is just so much higher and with the insane number of artifacts makes it almost certain you can play it.

A mediocre academy deck will be worse than drafting the deck we're in the right seat for even if pearl ends up being colorless. Passing a mox and not getting to really draft an academy deck would be disastrous

Moxes are way better than academy.

Moxes feel overrated for a lot of decks, unfortunately the Academy deck is one of the decks they're broken in.

@@kinginthenorth1437 playing ahead of curve is super important in vintage cube. Every deck wants at least one copy of a mox regardless of its color

@@Cthuski well yeah no shit but your chances of drafting a bad academy deck are slim to none considering there’s a ton of artifacts and most of the payoffs only the academy player wants. Playing ahead of curve is very important but playing wayyyy above curve on turn 4 is even better.
