He was in "Texas". That's why he wore the cowboy hat and bollo tie that he never wore in Albuquerque. It's just sad because Jimmy is a longtime conman who loves to do tricks and hates playing along with the rules, but he found a good way to apply his skills. But Chuck just had to push Jimmy out of HHM, and that just pushed Jimmy further back toward being a conman to get validation and results. Every chance Jimmy got to make a fresh start, Chuck just pushes him further back to the place where he NEEDS to con to survive.

I can see it a few ways. 1) It's more likely she has a nephew vs a son. 2.) I agree with you on the soliciting but no way is the commercial justified. Yeah it's was just his case at first but his ad is representing the class action as well as the entire firm of Davis & Main. You don't get to just be hired by Walmart and start putting out your own Walmart ads. Cliff Main rightfully points out that yes Jimmy's ad did bring in people for the class action, but it hurt their brand because the ad came off as too manipulative and corny for the prestige image they want to display. Not even telling the partners about the ad is probably the stupidest thing Jimmy ever did, he was definitely at least subconsciously trying to get fired.

No way in hell is this solicitation. He clearly plays it by-the-book here. Note the interaction with Lydecker: Jimmy doesn't address him, only answers after Lydecker has interacted with him. The fact that Sandpiper stonewalled him from meeting clients in their homes forced him to meet them on a bus like this. If Sandpiper didn't want other people overhearing, they would have been smart to set up private meeting spaces for Jimmy to meet people who responded to the mailer. By stonewalling him from their residences, they opened up this opportunity for Jimmy, and he was being an excellent lawyer by seizing on it. This isn't solicitation, this is a strategic failure on Sandpiper's part. Once again, Chuck was completely in the wrong, and simply going out of his way to sabotage Jimmy.

Maybe Chuck didn’t think it was solicitation, but Jimmy’s strategy was pretty questionable and it would be very easy for Sandpiper to use that argument against HHM. Jimmy is indeed awesome and Chuck was an ass about it, but his ace in the hole could’ve cost them the case if it was used and Chuck had to protect the firm.

One of the things Jimmy dos well is remember names/faces. You need that as a conman. He can meet someone once and remember them. It comes off as very charming and puts people at ease. It’s nice to see him using it in a very moral way here to get these elderly citizens the information since Sandpiper crossing won’t let him in. And yes, this means more money for Jimmy. But he’s at his best when he’s using his whits and charm for the greater good
