Saul was Walt's Deus Ex Machina, just as Dr. Caldera the vet was Mike's Deus Ex Machina. It wasn't hard to foresee that at some point the vet would pass the torch to Saol. The torch took the form of the little coded black book..

How about being rich from producing legal chemical solutions that help people? If he had just said "yes", he could have been all paid up right from the start and enjoyed tons of legal cash without ever murdering people, either directly or through his product.
@Mr.Weskers
@Mr.Weskers 2 ай бұрын
He was never going to be able to enjoy his riches, even if he could put aside his ego. His raging bitch of a wife and emotionally unstable son would have asked far too many questions about the money Walt was getting. Even if through donations, they would only have been able to use a fraction of what Walt really had, which still meant a mediocre life. Skylar was the main problem aside from Walt’s ego.
@Steflora

@@Mr.Weskers Are you serious? How was Skylar the main problem for wanting Walter to be honest with her? Would you not be upset if you found out that your husband was a drug-cooking murderer behind your back? She was put in an awful situation and it was all Walter’s fault. He could’ve had all the money he ever wanted and he refused it because of his own ego. What happened to him and his family was entirely his own fault.

Well, kinda the WHOLE POINT of the series is that Walt always felt he was destined to achieve some type of “greatness” but was never able to actually grasp it. Now, whether that was ENTIRELY because of his own shortcomings or because he got screwed over, it’s hard to say EXACTLY. But the point is: his EGO was grievously WOUNDED by the Gray Matter situation years before and he “carried a chip on his shoulder” for all the years FOLLOWING THAT, feeling that he was OWED something.

Jane's fate was sealed the moment she blackmailed Walt. Even if at that point he's still was a sickly chemistry teacher, you don't treat a guy capable of making half a million selling meth. What does Jane think that would have happened even if she and Jesse went to New Zealand? Gus would have order their deaths because they knew too much about the bussines. But I guess Jane wasn't a smart person at all. In this game, you dont treat to go to the cops: you rat, and then dissappear. And if you have luck, you will live in fear the rest of your days, praying for not to get shot in the back by Badger and Skinny Pete.

Its not like he could look at the picture and say to Hank "Ah yes this is the guy supplied me with meth for my operation. He has cancer right?" It's really hard to understand Walt sticking out for Jessie when he really didn't need him in the earlier episodes, it really led to his downfall and surprisingly continuation of the series.
