Shows that have definite ending are the ones that are the best. I am so glad Vince Gilligan recognized when it should've ended. If it dragged on, it would have suffered (looking at you, The Walking Dead...). Seriously one of the greatest shows of all time
@EvelioandZgroup6 жыл бұрын
schradester8 Well, I don’t think Walking Dead is a fair comparison. Don’t get me wrong, the show sucks, but it’s always had shitty episodes that outweigh any good moments the series has had. The show was a 6 during its first season, but as AMC showed their true colors the show was rapidly on the decline. Worse is that it became a success and convinced AMC that their route was the right one. Not only that, the show was meant to go back and forth by adapting certain moments of the comics while going in its own direction. That was Darabont’s plan. Now it’s used to stretch the show as far as they can.
@schradester86 жыл бұрын
EvelioandZgroup I guess I just miss the days of Season 5 and before. Those seasons had crappy moments but it still took risks. Now all of the characters that die, I don't care about, except Glenn, and at that point I was just pissed off. I quit watching it last year and am all the better for it. I actually watched BB only last october. Glad I invested time into that, instead of TWD.
@BullyGarfield.3 жыл бұрын
wow your last name is schrader.
@ducamorisable2 жыл бұрын
Funny how you used Walking Dead as an example, and 4 years later the show is still going being on its 11th Season, and well passed its 150th episode. I mean people have been asking: "Is that show still on?" in regards to TWD for half a decade now... Makes me somewhat sad as I was rather fond of the show up until they killed Glenn. Moreover I also think it's somewhat funny that the Breaking Bad universe (Better Call Saul and El Camino) has 11 seasons and well over a 100 episodes, but it just feels so much more natural than TWD. With every episode and season trying to have a point rather than just pad the run time.
@rubbish84762 жыл бұрын
Death Note suffered from that too. When L dies the confrontation he had with Kira ends and this was an essential part of the plot. From this the rest of the anime doesn't feel the same.

When I first saw the BB finale and that Badfinger song began to play at the end I had goosebumps that wouldn't go away. How can this show be topped? It was perfection. Also, I think Better Call Saul is outstanding.

@fro_e Жыл бұрын
@@DylanHart8Good apart from the bus chant imo. Bit too goofy for me. Other people liked it, tho.
@DylanHart8 Жыл бұрын
@@fro_e agreed. Also the Jeff recast really threw me off, the new actor was good but I know that really confused a lot of people when it first happened and people didn’t even realise it was supposed to be the same character, which if I didn’t watch BCS breakdown videos on KZbin at the time I probably wouldn’t have noticed either because he does have a very different face. I kinda wish they would go back and edit the scenes from the earlier seasons and swap the Jeff actor for the new one for continuity reasons. Although I’m not totally opposed to the theory that Jimmy/Gene saw him that way because in his mind he was scarier than he actually was and then once he realised how harmless and gullible Jeff really was the way he saw him completely changed.
@roddydykes70537 ай бұрын
@@DylanHart8yeah to completely recast a non-child actor in this BB/BCS universe was very off-brand and confusing, should’ve just scrapped the idea of Saul dragging some random into his schemes and just found a new guy to go with. The finale was very interesting but not as iconic as BB’s. Overall a very worthwhile show and I hope they leave the IP alone now before another Slippin’ Jimmy cartoon is made

aww c'mon. Okay I guess I'm going to be "that guy" to point this out, but I happen to see this video in my recommendations, I get so excited and click on it, that it's actually a NEW thing among all the long-form Vince Gilligan interviews/panels there are out there, and Hardwicke starts it off with a question that Gilligan's already VERY thoroughly explained in like 97 other interviews already? The whole "where did the show come from, how did you pitch it" thing? I'm happy to keep watching this thing, but I gotta be honest this ain't an encouraging start.
@modilly26046 жыл бұрын
I feel the same. They ask the same questions in all the interviews involving “how was it done? ” and “how long did it take?”. I think super fans and theorist should be asking questions and Vince could really give what it is to him. If it’s more “blunt” and no what we as the people want to hear, us creating among fans can bring it to more than what’s an paper. Basically what I’m saying is we should study this and philosophize about it among all other great lasting literature of history..

I have been watching every one of these if only for one reason: And that is that despite the insufferable repetition, there's always some new nuance revealed in Vince's answers. He's intelligent and yet has pretty much the most amicable and humble demeanor mixed with the right amount of humor, to the point that you want to keep hearing more. I also want as much insight as I can possibly get into their process and I can't get enough of that world, so even the tiniest new nugget of info can make it satisfying. Still, you're right, I can only take so much of the pitch story and I was ready to just skip through it but mercifully Vince knew better than to get into all that crap about HBO etc.

Chris you are an amazing moderator…always have been. Vince I love listening to you. Very imaginative and seem to be a regular guy....if not a bit on the spooky side 😊 I watched BB from day one and was hooked. Because of Netflix BB's on a continuous loop on my tv. It's true...I have no idea whats going on in the world. So many things I could and want to say but I’m going to stick to the “end” part of the finale. About time to let it out right? Gretchen and Elliot scene - Fantastic. Couldn’t have been better. A spot on scene about three people who years earlier were headed on the same path and what divergence can do to lives. I was happy Vince (and his amazing team of writers) set the two of them up for a lifetime of fear. Well done ! Jack told Walt they'd kill Jesse after 'dead eye'd Todd' got the information the DEA had on them. Time goes by and Walt assumes Jesse is dead. Skinny Pete and Badger (have to love them) tell Walt blue meth is back. Now he knows Jack didn't kill Jesse and they are cooking. No half measures headed to Jack, his scummy boys and Jesse ! And poor Lydia...yeah, not so much, have some stevia. The look on Walt's face changed when he saw Jesse at Jack's. Walt saw Jesse wasn’t cooking by choice, but by the hands of those Nazi/White Power assholes. We know he went to kill them all. He wouldn't of protected him if the Jack/Jesse partnership were true. However 'Walt' that one move of redemption in no way could cover all the horrible things you did to him. Tsk tsk. Sociopath ! Creepy. As for Walt dying in the lab….I thought it was perfect for a few of reasons…He was happiest in a lab, the cancer battle ends, but most of all, except for Jesse, he wiped out everyone who knew anything about him and his recipe. His recipe was the root of the beginning of the end. And he died as Heisenberg….Screw Grey Matter…..He was proud of being Heisenberg…. ummmmmm again, Sociopath. On a separate note……the last scene with Walter and Skyler was gut wrenching. So much said, facial expressions within a small amount time. The soft spokenness gave me goosebumps. Absolutely amazing writing and acting. Amazing. Nothing like it. Which explains the continuous loop on my tv. One more thing.......does Marie heat up anything besides Lasagna? There's an inside joke to that right?
