I had a breast reduction when I was 16 and I had my nipple removed and reattached. When I found out I was preagant I didn't think I can produce milk but to my surprise I did. I'm exclusively pumping now so I can see how much he is getting and I make rufflly around 26 to 36 oz in a day. So it is possible and I'm very thankful to my surgeon.

Did your nipples sag a bit after pregnancy even with the reduction? I had a reduction recently & my nipples were put too high. I'm hoping my next pregnancy will bring them back down even if my breast become big again. Super stressed about this.

This video was very helpful thank you sometimes I feel like I'm not making enough because my baby is always attached to me he is now 2 months old his birth weight was 6 lb 7 oz and now he's almost 12 lb he letchas on really good since day one.. but sometimes I feel really good about breastfeeding and other times I feel like I'm doing a really bad job at producing milk when I pump I hardly get anything and sometimes I have to give him a bottle he probably get a bottle maybe once or twice at the most three times a day but again thank you for this video I don't think I know anyone who have had a breast reduction and lift and is breastfeeding

I am 5’6 150lbs and a size 36 H. I’m six months pp and currently breastfeeding. I plan to see a specialist to discuss a breast reduction because I am miserable! It is so hard for me to breastfeed because they are so big. I have a feeling my doctor is going to tell me to wait until I’m done having babies. I feel like if I get the reduction I will have an easier breastfeeding experience next time. My question is, did your boobs just grow back after or during this pregnancy? I was a large DD before I got pregnant so I am afraid if I get the reduction and get pregnant again that they will double in size again

Yes they did. I was 150 and was a DDD38 before and after the surgery I went down to a D. Now 7 years later I'm back right where I started. When I loose weight though I tend to loose in this area so i'm banking on this.

Thank you so much. I have been tears for three days because I haven’t been able to produce enough milk and it’s definitely disheartening. I’m not giving up, but I have had to supplement because of high bilirubin and her not gaining weight. I had the same surgery where they did not remove my nipple over 10 years ago. I’m just praying that I’m able to produce enough for milk for my baby.

I have had a reduction... the one practitioner basically told me I will have to be 50/50 with supplementation. This was surprising to hear and I don’t really understand it. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi! Congrats on your new baby! I had a breast reduction 15 years ago & I'm now expecting my second child. I was able to produce milk with my first child but I wasn't consistent or confident with nursing however I wish to exclusively breastfeed this baby. Are you also able to pump efficiently as well? Any tips?

Yes I am. I can pump 4 oz in 10 minutes after she's nursed. I have a ton of milk.

I don’t see why a breast reduction would prevent you from exclusively breastfeeding. Do they remove glandular tissue or just fat?

It all depends on how invasive the surgery. Every patient and surgeon is different. They told me based on my reports that I had a good chance of being able to nurse.

If you look at a diagram of a breast the milk glands are attached to the fat. If you take out one you take out the other. Also, there is a very important nerve that helps you release milk located at the areola. If it is cut during surgery then your milk production can be chronically low.

This makes me super excited. I had a reduction 5 years ago. I was a double F pre reduction and roughly a D post reduction. They took 4 pounds of breast tissue. I always had this question in the back of my head will I be able to breastfeed. It has always been something I wanted to do. This gives me so much hope. Thank you for sharing your experience. Not in a relationship so I figured it's the best time because I want to lose weight to avoid as many complications as possible before I get pregnant since I currently have Hbp and PCOS as well as fibroids...
