I did both. I find breastfeeding more stressful than formula. Once my baby’s born I’ll breastfeed him for the first week or so, the colostrum is good for them, then he’s going on formula!

Hi Monica, My daughter is 11 days old today and i realized she is going through her first growth spurt. She finishes 90ml of expressed milk in 1 feeding and would ask for milk again in approximately 2 hours. Am i feeding too much? And how much is appropriate. Thanks in advance.

I breastfeed for a day but didn't get the support from the hospital what I needed .. when I give birth I was bleeding very bad so they just give my little one to my partner and give her a bottle when I whated to feed her myself . My partner ask if they could show me how to breastfeed but my midwife said coz she been on the power milk it confuses her which she was only a day one she confuses anyway and got shity with us yes they was busy but they are here to help you so after that I just stick with power milk

I am pregnant with twins and will formula feed. I had a very hard time breastfeeding my other 2 children and went through a depression because of it. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders when I finally decided to formula feed them...followed by massive guilt and shame. However after awhile, I decided to let the guilt go and just...feed my babies. Now that i am pregnant again with twins..I have already decided that I am not going to breastfeed. I don't want to go through the struggle and depression again..especially with 2 babies. I just want to be happy and enjoy my babies (and other 2 children ) as they grow.

@Christian Cunanan My momma was unable to breastfeed me because of medications she was taking. Does that mean she was lazy? Does that mean that even though her and my dad tried for 7 years to have me, that they should have just given me up? No, it doesn't. Formula feeding doesn't make a parent lazy or mean they're unworthy of their children. The amount of judgement in one comment is truly sickening. This coming from a 15 year old! Grow up!

@Christian Cunanan Also if my momma would have breastfed me, it would have been dangerous. She was on medications that she had to take, and the can cause harm to a baby. She wanted to breastfeed, but it wasn't possible.

I wanted to exclusively breastfeed my baby until she weans off on her own but I have a Low supply of breast milk and felt so guilty when the Nurses at the hospital said my baby's urine was pink and they had to feed her formula because she did not get enough milk from me:( I'm a first time Mom and now my baby is turning a month old in 2days... I felt that I'm such a failure and I couldn't even provide my baby with the most basic thing she needs:'( pls share tips of how I can increase my milk supply with natural foods/herbs etc and also how to latch her on properly so that I can breastfeed my baby full time!

Blessed Thistle is what I used to help me increase my milk supply, and lots of fluids, soups, oatmeal and an occasional beer! but if you dont do alcohol because your afraid it might go to baby then it's ok. Its just an old wifes tale. I did get more milk after I drank one.

Marina Chaudhry breastfeeding is totally worth it, as they get older it will be easier and there will be alot of bonding time between the two of you. I did it my daughter will be One in august 15 and its been and amazing experience. Back in the days mothers would breastfeed their infants turned two yeas old.

Omg. I know this comment is old, but the whole point of formula is that you don't have to do it. Your husband can. Or grandparents. Or a friend. Or literally anyone. This is why it frees the mother and allows her to rest - someone else can do it.

hi Monica. thanks got the videos. I am 5w6d and went for a transvaginal u/s my babies heartbeat was at 103- my obgyn thought this was concerning and that it should have been higher. I should mention that my body is not producing progesterone like my Dr thinks it should. I measured an 8 for progesterone when my Dr said I should be at 10- for how early I was. she put me on progesterone suppositories and have not gone for another u/s or blood work to see how its helping yet but will soon. I am wondering if I should be concerned about this heartbeat of 103, is this abnormal? also, why is my body not producing enough progesterone, if lets say, it is not a miscarriage and is a healthy pregnancy- why would my body not produce sufficient progesterone? should I be concerned?

We all know that "breast is best", and that breastmilk is healthier, but there are also nutritional benefits of formula as well. Why are they never talked about? The only benefits you mentioned where all about convenience. Formula isn't poison. Even though this video wasn't judgmental, it still felt like a slap in the face. Breastfeeding didn't work for me and my daughter for a number reasons. After 2 solid months I just had to stop. And believe me, I did everything I could to rectify the issues we were having. You name it, I did it. People need to stop making comparisons and just be happy that mom's are feeding their babies. Don't forget that we still have a chance to "redeem" ourselves when our babies begin eating solids. Whichever method a mother chooses to feed their baby is the best choice.

Unlike the other three on this comment thread who are shamming those who use formula, always keep in mind that as long as it's a fed baby, they'll be a happy baby

perpetualnausea I agree I have a hard time breastfeeding even family members seemeed to judge me even tho I tried even witg bleeding nipples it hurt so much I stopped. gladly my husband told me it was ok😔 to use formula and I shouldn't listen, as long as my son was fed it was going to be ok. Sometimes it's better to do what we think best not what others think.

Brittney Patron yes, it IS true. Fed is best. Period. And it is the MOTHER’S choice. Breast is NOT always best. Like in my case, where my hold was so allergic to my milk that it cause her intestines to bleed. And no, I couldn’t just “change my diet.” Been vegan for 12 years. Think before you judge and say “not true.” Read a little.

No. "Best" is not subjective. "Best" is an empirical statement. It can be measured by nutritional content, presence of colostrum, sterility, temperature, storage availability, antibiotics, and other ways. No. Not "only" the mother can chose what is right. A mother that "chooses" to snort narcotics and shoot whiskey is "wrong" to breast feed. A mother that "chooses" to pump breast milk but does a crappy job storing it for use is "wrong" to breast feed. A woman who "chooses" to use formula at the wrong temperature or mixture or sterility is "wrong" as well. There is a right and wrong. There is good and bad. Mothers should NOT be left alone to decide what is best for their children. Children, especially infants, need a family. A small group of loving, concerned people all operating in the child's best interest.
