Breath of Fire 2 Spell Exhibition (& Secret Spells)

Every spell in the game is presented in this video, including: spells that are learned by characters, monster skills (that somehow are considered as spells), DeathEvan's spells, and hidden (unobtainable) spells like Wall, Recovery! (heals a character for 30AP) and Healing Herb (yes, there is a hidden spell with the name of Healing Herb).
Because of the targeting, the majority of monster skills when used by party members will damage the party or inflict status ailments to them.

I did NOT know that Typhoon had additional effects based on where you were! Also, I loved the old idea of holding down a button to cause a Special damage version of a spell (dunno if it worked but it's what I did and SEEMED like it worked). Like, Bolt X getting more intro lightning bolts before the BIG one, or Hail not just having the ice wolf, but an entire series of ice puppies afterward. Just to let you know that yeah, that was a Special hit.

There's a second version of Kaiser / G.Drgn in the coding, the one used in the fight with Ray. It costs 0 AP, always does full 999 damage regardless of your current AP, but only hits the first target rather than all of them.

I played through this game three times back in the day, and I never saw the medium dragon level. Puppy --> Great Dragon. Must not have level farmed enough.

The pups and G dragon are automatic by events. The other dragon ability is given by a dragon clan member in a cave near Simafort.

Yo i swear i didnt even kn ow Spar had those spells. Back in the day when i played this Spar would die all the time lol.. I think i ended up using Spar for transformations

The spells used around the 10-minute mark are spells that are invoked by the Nature skill depending on which environment you're in (it has to be outdoors or Nature fails). I assume that hacking was done in order to be able to cast Flower Magic and Cactus Explosion directly. "Not enough AP!" is a spell that works in a similar fashion, as casting a spell will invoke that spell instead if you get sufficiently AP-drained before you can cast it.

I always held the button down when I wanted a Special attack, or hoped for a Counter. It seemed to work, when you had a high Guts rating, for some reason. And I think when I gave Rand the Final knuckle, it made it so when HE did a Special, it became a 'Toasted' attack that instantly wiped an enemy. I think the No Twin Rapier had the same Toasted effect.

@SeventhheavenDK Exactly You don't need more than 3 spells for each element OK, maybe you could have 6 if half only attack 1 enemy and the others attack all You could also get by with only 1 spell for each element if the attack was based solely off the characters magic/intelligence

I think the retranslation was a commendable effort but he overlooked the fact that those who would be playing are most likely people that were familiar with the original English version. Fixing all of the grammar and spelling mistakes and using truncated names is good. Changing the names of characters and spells not so good. Bow>Bosch and Spar>Aspara was fine but Katt>Lin, Memeko>Honey Babaderlu>Bunyan bother me. Then there are the spells; need to watch this video to know what they even do.

I don't mind the character name changes since it's from the Japanese version. It's some of the dialogue changes that I didn't like, like it felt too extra & cringey at times but overall, it was a pretty good job. I didn't like the fact that Win/Wynn only changes the font glow color in the retranslation.

Ah, the ROMhack translation. God, I hate it. Don't get me wrong, for people who never played BoF2 it's pretty darn nice, but growing up on the game and trodding all over stuff as I used to know it sucks.
