Bugmen Fan That's because in the Japanese version, Demise's curse is not known as a curse, but as a grudge, which is line with the Japanese concept of Yurei and grudges in mythology that the games are inspired by. In fact, the phrase "Demise's curse" is technically a translation error. In his original Japanese speech, he mentions that malice will reincarnate eternally because his grudge is never ending. And cursed Bokoblins are not really cursed, they are just magical Bokoblins full of hatred from the grudge, as seen in the Japanese version. So, it's not unrelated at all. In fact, your finding only confirms the theory and shows that Ganondorf genuinely is the reincarnation of Demise's malice in the form of the Gerudo King. You'd be surprised by how much lore gets lost due to these mistranslation errors. For example, in BotW, people think Link doesn't love Zelda, or at least that it isn't obvious. But that's only true if you play the English translation. In the Japanese release, Link has his own diary, and he pretty much confirms that he loves Zelda in said diary. After completing the last ancient song from Kass in which he reveals that Zelda loves Link, Link writes in his diary entry "I accept her feelings." This gets lost in translation, because the diary gets cut out of the Adventure Log for the English version. There are many other things lost in translation too. For example, people think Hyrule is located on Earth because supposedly Aonuma said so, but Aomuma actually never said this. What Aonuma said is that Hyrule is in Chikyuu, a word that is often used to refer to the Earth, but doesn't actually translate to Earth and can refer to other planets as well. It kind of really means "home planet," which makes you realize that Aonuma's answer is intentionally super vague. Similarly, people used to not be aware that A Link Between Worlds is a sequel of ALttP before an official timeline was released. But this is super obvious in the Japanese release since the game is literally called ALttP2. In summary, we can conclude that translations fuck shit up.
@javiervasquez89955 жыл бұрын
@@angelmendez-rivera351 When you say that Ganondorf is the reincarnation of Demise's Malice does that also mean that he is actually Demise himself reincarnated? 😕 The Hyrule Historia implies as such yet none of the games post Skyward Sword have confirmed wether they are indeed the same entity being reborn through time. 🤔 PS: In Japan A Link to the Past's actual name is "Triforce of the Gods" so technically that means A Link Between Worlds's name would be "Triforce of the Gods 2". Nonetheless thanks for the explanation. 👌😉
@angelmendez-rivera3515 жыл бұрын
Javier Vásquez Yes, I do mean that Ganondorf is the reincarnation of Demise himself. In this sense, one can say that Ganondorf IS Demise, much in the same fashion that we can say Zelda IS Hylia. Most people would disagree, but you have to understand that the reincarnation tradition used in the Legend of Zelda is entirely inspired by the sāmsara cycle in Buddhism. In fact, most of the Legend of Zelda is just an antology of Shinto myths and Buddhist traditions. In Buddhism, the soul is separated from the body. So while we may think of Ganondorf and Demise as dfferent entities because they occupy different bodies, they are the same soul, and if we think of the soul as the defining aspect of a person, then that would indeed imply they are one and the same. This is made less explicit in English than it is in Japanese. Similarly, Zelda just is the goddess Hylia, since Zelda's soul is just the goddess residing in the body of the mortal. Zelda does not have a separate soul that is not the soul of the goddess. She IS the goddess. We simply talk about them as different entities because Americans would be extremely confused if we treated every Zelda as the same Zelda AND also declared Zelda is the goddess, especially because Zelda is mortal. Rather than thinking of them as different people, it is nore accurate to think of them as different manifestations or forms of the goddess. Hence, whenever we refer to Hylia, we REALLY mean her immortal manifestation, specifically, one which presumably does not exist anymore. Then whatever Zelda we are talking about refers to any of the other manifestations. But again, most Westerners would have a difficult time handling and accepting this concept. Hence, they had to sacrifice the loyalty for the source material and a comprehensible plot in order to make the game palatable to Americans as opposed to making them absord raw incorporations of Shinto myths that they don't understand into the game. Oh, and yes, this does also mean every Link technically is the same Link incarnating in different bodies. This is why all the Links reside similar bodies and have similar introverted behavior - some of them do not talk, while others are merely shy. That is easy to understand when you consider they all have the same soul. It is true that none of the games explicitly state Ganondorf IS Demise... but this is also for most things. In fact, most of the Zelda lore and timeline comes from Hyrule Historia, not the games. If we had to consider the games alone, a timeline simply would not exist, because the games were not designed to fit in a timeline to start with. They are retellings of a legend, or part of a legend. This is why Nintendo has gone with the approach of giving a title to each individual the Legend of Zelda name as opposed to presenting as "the Legend of Zelda 3" or "the Legend of Zelda 7." It is true that "the Legend of Zelda II" exists, but only because it is a sequel to the first game in the franchise. And yes, some games do form sequels of each other, which superficially suggests a timeline. A Link Between Worlds is very obviously a sequel of A Link to the Past, and Triforce Heroes is very obviously a sequel of A Link Between Worlds. Yes, Phantom Hourglass is a sequel of the Wind Waker, as it is pretty much stated in game. However, these sequel packets only really imply that they form pieces of a full legend as opposed to being a legend of their own. The Legend of Zelda and Link's Adventure, TOGETHER, are one of the retellings of the legend. A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds, and Triforce Heroes together form another retelling of said legend. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask form yet another retelling. So on and so forth. However, these complete separate legends are not actually related. The OoT-MM duo is by no means related to the ALttP-ALBW-TFH trilogy, and people only see them as related becuse Hyrule Historia claims they are. However, a lot of stuff that did not happen in the games is said to have happened between the two sub-series, to the extent that there are massive time gaps in between. It's Nintendo's lazy way of trying to form a timeline between when there logically is none, and they only do this because many tLoZ refuse to accept the idea of having the games not connected to one another and simply be legends. Again, this is another tragedy that is obtained by having a Japanese game series based entirely on Japanese culture and context trying to cater to American gamers equally. So really, based on everything said above, you could argue Hyrule Historia is not canon - because it basically is half-assed canon and even Nintendo does not take it seriously - and say that Ganondorf really is a different entity and Demise, because in a more genuine lore in which the Zelda games would be kept separate as they were meant to be, Skyward Sword would have no relationship to Ocarina of Time. Also, I was aware of ALttP being Triforce of the Gods in Japan, but I didn't think it important to mention. That said, the sequelness of ALBW to said game is obvious from its Japanese title. That it be called Triforce of the Gods does explain why Triforce Heroes is the sequel to ALBW, though. So thank you for mentioning that.

Rocco b Beauchamp Not really. BotW had to be made completely from scratch, but not the sequel, since the character models and animations have already been created, as his been most of the world. Yes, they do have to modify said models, and yes, they do have to modify the world, but modifying them is much easier than starting from scratch with lines of codes and takes much less time. Also, most of the concept art is already complete and implemented, as are the ideas of what the dungeons and gameplay should be like. At most, they would simply have to improve the mechanics and add features to the game. For example, they may add more outfits, or they might add fishing rods, or underwater swimming. These additions might take the longest amount of time, if they happen, but then again, these wouldn't take as long as building the entire expansive universe from literally nothing. I think the latest we should really expect BotW sequel is early 2021, but it may come even earlier. I guess it ultimately depends on what other games they are working on as well, since that would be a great determinant for how long they take.

It also fits thematically as we see in the trailer Luminous stones, containing the could of those who have succumbed to DEATH, and Ganondorf, who appears to have to succumbed to DEATH, suggesting important themes of life and death. And it's not past Nintendo to do that, For A Link to the past a link between worlds, which they called a link to the past 2 in japan, where they just swapped out a few words for the sequel. Plus Ocarina 2 didn't have a subtitle like that because it was a completely different story. If there was a second ocarina that summoned hordes of the dead, then that title probably would've been likely, but it was in fact it's own story. MM was announced as Majoras Mask, not OOT2 placing it as it's own identity. But BOTW2 was announced as BOTW2, suggesting that it ties into the first game more than you appear to think. Between OOT and MM, all we see linking them is that Link met Zelda and was gifted an Ocarina, wheras already from this trailer, we see the links between BOTW and BOTW2 including, but not limited to; Malice, Ganon, the master sword, luminous stones, Zelda etc. It is both thematically appropriate, and logically sound, to call this game Death of the Wild.

Fantastic, FANTASTIC video! I LOVE the idea of Malice in the series, especially with the little tidbits of what creatures are and are not related to it based on their death animations (i.e. Bokoblins are, but Redeads are not). In fact, despite the fascinating things you delved into here, I feel like it's possible to go even deeper. "Gratitude crystals" are interesting. I haven't played Skyward Sword (yet), but they might just explain one of the series's biggest themes: Light energy. If, as you say, they are the antithesis, then would it not make sense for the Light Arrows, Sacred Power, and so on, to be of a similar sort? (Specifically since they feature so heavily in the Dark Beast fight.) "The demon king was born into this world, but his transformation into Malice created the horror you see now." You seem to indicate this refers to Ganondorf becoming the Calamity, but wouldn't it make more sense for this to refer to Demise's Curse, with the literal Demon King's transformation into Malice? This would fit all the scenarios. Demise did not create Malice, but he is the source of the majority of it. The Malice is the curse. And the incarnations just fuel it in perpetuity. Which would explain Ganondorf quite well. He is a man corrupted by Demise's curse, becoming the physical manifestation of the Malice. But eventually, he was sealed. The Malice leaks out, causing the Calamity. Super, super cool stuff. Did I mention this was a great video?

Hmmm... if there are Light Arrows... maybe could it be possible for some kind of Dark or Malice Arrows to exist?

Nah, Demise is said to be the source of all monster. The curse is the Demon Tribe that Ganondorf joined when he became Ganon. He is part of the Curse. Demise kinda predicted Calamity Ganon when he used the term "evolution". He knew that the Demon Tribe will repeat what he has done.
@angelmendez-rivera3515 жыл бұрын
Pauly Griffin Demise is the source of all Malice. What NBC failed to consider in the video is that it has been states both in the tLoZ compendia that Nintendo has released and in the games that Demise is the God of the Demon Tribe, which preexisted all of Hyrule. It existed together with all the other gods and goddesses, including Hylia, and they were the only things to exist. All monsters in the dungeons are creations of said Demon Tribe. Ganondorf is an incarnation of the grudge and hatred of the Demon Tribe, which is exactly what Demise's curse is. This by no means implies is magical power is Malice, it merely implies he is an incarnation of Malice. As for BotW stating he became into Malice, this is inaccurate and the result of mistranslation. What the King really does say is that Ganon was consumed by Malice, unable to keep his physical form. This, of course, was very cryptic and seemed to not make sense, but it makes perfect sense once you look at the trailer of the sequel. While Ganondorf is simply Malice taking over a body, Calamity Ganon is pure Malice itself and not actually a physical form, and not actually Ganon either.

It seems highly likely that after Ganondorf proved even the Twilight realm couldn't hold him, it was decided that he should be imprisoned at the moment of his death to prevent him returning. Then, after some time passed being trapped trapped like that, his hatred became Malice and overflowed. Seeing how much power he had, the Sheika likely devised a way to drain him of that power, hoping it would prevent another incident. In case it did, they used that energy to create the Guardians and Divine Beasts. Since that would make Malice the raw, unrefined form of energy used, that would explain why Ganon was so easily capable of corrupting them with it (they're machines, not monsters).
@javiervasquez89955 жыл бұрын
It could also have been the Zonai who actually did the Sealing through the Green Hand meanwhile the Sheikah supported the Zonai and the Royal Family with defensive Technology just in case that Ganondorf would ever achieve the Power(or the emotion) to break free of his Seal. They(all 3 groups) might have worked together in order to keep him trapped below Hyrule Castle.

@@javiervasquez8995 It could have been the Zonai, yeah, but the hand does have a Twili vibe about it. I could see the Sheikah creating something so taboo before I could see the Zonai doing it. I think, if anything, it was their idea to seal him this way, and the Sheikah implemented it.
@javiervasquez89955 жыл бұрын
@@goatplissken That does sound like a probable scenario. 🤔👍😮 If the Ganondorf in the trailer is in fact the same one that got stabbed with the Master Sword at the end of Twilight Princess then perhaps it might have indeed been the Twili who somehow managed to help the RF and the Sheikah keep him in a sealed state. I don't know how they would interact with the Light World after TP though given that Midna shattered the Mirror of Twilight at the end of the game.
@goatplissken5 жыл бұрын
@@javiervasquez8995 As far as I can imagine it, the Twili can't come back without being really uncool about it (meta much). However, the Sheikah were connected to the Twili before their banishment. It would make sense that the Sheikah low-key kept some of the secrets the Twili discovered, with Hylia's blessing, for a scenario like this. Given that Ganondorf had been through the mirror, a Twili seal could have been deemed necessary. Maybe soul leaching is Twili tech (10/10 chance that's what got them banished), and it's use was deemed necessary by all parties, including Hylia.

I always figured the Ancient Cistern served three interconnected purposes. First being a mass grave for all of Demise's monsters from his war with Hylia. Second being a filtration system so that any stay malice power or monster parts would pass through and be caught and funneled down to the mass grave. Third being the holding place for Farore's sacred flame. Then Farore's flame in turn is maintaining the purity of the Cistern and keeping the all the malice contained in it's depths. It would also explain why the undead bokoblins are so much stronger under the Cistern but fall after two hits when Kloktos summons them to the top.

Gratitude Crystals made me appreciate Skyward Sword's sidequests even more. BOTW side quests felt like standard RPG missions, many with generic rewards. Skyward Sword felt interconnected and everyone benefited from Link's help. I hope BOTW2 Link and Zelda's presence benefits Hyrule instead of their legacy being stuck in the past like in BOTW.

Gio tLoZ was always intended to be an RPG. Nintendo stated this before and after the release of the first game in the franchise. What made it so different from an ordinary RPG is how nonlinear the series was intended to be, and the fact that the storytelling was very nontraditional as well.

While i would also love to see the same level of "interconnectionallity" present in Skyward Sword as you said i would also most dearingly EMBRACE a "classic narrative style" present in the earlier installments such as in the case of Twilight Princess which i consider to have the BEST STORY in the WHOLE franchise. 😀 I would deeply despise it if Nintendo just decided to YET AGAIN force the player go around the map collecting "memories" INSTEAD of just giving us a coherent and cohesive narrative story in *present time* with overarching characters that *develop* according to their Trials and challenges thrown at them by to plot. 🙁 Hopefully Nintendo will realize that a classic narrative within a game can in fact do WONDERS at making the player actually *relate* to what's happening by having them experience things in the PRESENT. 😐😒 It Beats ALL that memory crap. 😧

Imagine the emotions of all the people of Hyrule are used to finally end the curse. If malice is negative energy, maybe the sheer positive energy of the people of hyrule and the Triforce combined will be enough to kill this malice-inflicted Ganondorf. Also they could definitely use this positive/ negative energy thing to FINALLY let us see ZeLink
@angelmendez-rivera3515 жыл бұрын
X14 Nomis Actually, ZeLink is already canon in BotW. This may seem false if you play the English translation of the game, but nobody cares about translations, we card about the source material, which is the Japanese release of the game. In the game, Link has a diary, and all the entries in the Adventure Log are written by him in first-person. After Kass gives you the last ancient song in which he reveals Zelda unlocked her powers because of her love for Link, Link writes in the diary entry that corresponds to this quest "I take in her feelings." Also, the true ending that occurs if you have all the memories has petals of the Silent Princess falling as Link runs towards Zelda, which also confirms it. Will we see them kiss? Probably not, but Nintendo made sure to let the Japanese players know they love each other. The diary entry for the ancient song is not the only entry that talks about Link's feelings for Zelda, but it is the most direct entry. There are other entries in which he says things like "She is so beautiful" and "I want to see her smile one more time," this last one is the diary entry that accompanies the entry for the Destroy Ganon main quest. And this entry is the reason we see Zelda smile at the end of the game in the secret/true ending, and then Link running towards her. You should check out the Japanese text dump. Link has a whole personality of his own in this game, and the English version just entirely removes this for some unexplained reason.

I think(hence the word letter I, just my Opinion) in botw I think the malice eyeballs are actually the eyes of Ganondorf(figuratively). If you notice they are sorta put into places as “roadblocks” as if set there on purpose as a checkpoint to keep track of someone or something(link). I believe they are eyes giving info to Ganondorf as he waits and gains power, after all Ganondorf would want to know of links progress and powers to gain a hand in defeating him. So in grande theory botw(first one) is a game just to set up something huge in the second game, the take over of hyrule( divine beast, monsters and destruction) was all planned and put into place to slow link down 100years later so Ganondorf could regain powers. Think about it...the game and beast were sorta easy as if they were just tests or something to slow you down... I think botw and calamity Ganon was all a set up for something bigger and the king knows this and this may be what he speaks of when he mentions something about hyrule a dark past. Meh🤷♂️

@@codyrisling1718 Yeah i mean if you compare both franchises side by side you CAN see some similar themes, characters, Lore, Mythology and history that almost seem to imply Nintendo was willing to "copy" many ideas from Tolkien's Middle Earth. 🤔😕 First there are the "archetypical" main characters which all share traits that are parallel to those found in Tolkien's work: Link being the Hero character he parallels Heros such as Legolas, Aragorn and also Frodo Baggins. Zelda is a princess "maiden" similar to the elven Galadriel and also princess Arwen. And finally Ganondorf who through the series has been given MANY names(similar to a certain character in LotR) including the title of *Dark Lord.* He is clearly a parallel to Sauron and his Master Melkor/Morgoth(who If you ask me could also be seen as an equivalent to Demise). Both Worlds have magical objects that have an important role within it's Mythology: The Triforce and the one Ring The Master Sword and Ringil Both worlds have a magical group of "Guardians" that watch over the Realm and guard it from evil beings: The 7 Sages/The 4 Champions and the Order of the Wizards. The Sage of Light Rauru from Ocarina of Time shares traits with the wizard Gandalf as both characters are extremily wise, both are the leaders within their respective groups and both are basically immortal beings of pure Light and goodness. Finally you have the races that do also share some similarities with the Tribes found in the Zelda universe: The Hylians with the Elves The Gorons and the Dwarves The Kokiri and the Hobbits The Deku and the Ents The Moblins and the Orcs Zelda has "Death Mountain" which was Ganon's original "Lair" in the first The Legend of Zelda game and LotR has Mount Doom which serves as Sauron's Lair. Both villains have the tendency of being master schemers and manipulators. They're both very good at *corrupting people* and using their powerful Dark magic to wage war against the people of their Realms. 😱💀 To be honest I feel there are many MORE similarities which one could make between Zelda and the works of J.R.R Tolkien but currently i can't think of anything specific at the moment. 🤔😏 Nintendo has clearly taken inspiration on many works of fiction that themselves are inspired by Arthurian legends and tales from the time of the Middle Ages. Because of that i wouldn't be surprised if eventually Aonuma and Miyamoto decided to just go a step further and basically put Ganondorf in the SAME situation as Sauron's at the beggining of "The Third Age" when he became an "All seeing Eye". Like Sauron Ganondorf was also possibly turned into a Zombie right after a major battle against the Royal Family, the Sheikah Tribe and the Zonai. Like Sauron wathever defeat Ganondorf suffered it left Him weakened and that's how the Zonai were able to keep him trapped sealed under the Green Hand. 😮 Maybe the plot of BotW 2 will mimic Lord of the Rings and Link will be tasked with delivering the Hand somewhere in order to vanquish him once more. 🤔😕 Meanwhile Ganondorf will be busy watching Link's journey from afar through the many Eyes of Malice spread across Hyrule. It would definetly be an interesting concept should Nintendo go for a LotR's esque story. 😮 Personally i would LOVE such a game. 😀😁

I highly suggest checking the Japanese text for Demise's speech, as it reads different and holds more true to what Nintendo intended to convey. Just one example is that "Demise" is not actually his NAME. He is called (roughly) "The Aspect of Demise" meaning he himself is a personification (demonification?) of the act of demise, aka death. I suppose "malice" is like residue, a physical form of the Aspect of Demise. Remember, he is the aspect, not actually named after the thing and if you recall, he does not have a true physical form. He looks like what you fear the most. It seems to me that this malice is that physical hatred/demise, spongy pieces of death himself. But yes, I believe that malice was fostered by Ganondorf.
@angelmendez-rivera3515 жыл бұрын
Availla Poncet Well, malice could not have been fostered by Ganondorf if malice preexisted Ganondorf. Also, since you mention the Japanese text dump, it should be noted that malice is specificed to be a product of the grudge the Demon Tribe has for the Hero and Hylia, not Demise's own hatred. And it is also specified elsehwere that all monsters are a creation of said Demon Tribe, implying malice ultimately had to originate from the Demon Tribe.
@availlaponcet58775 жыл бұрын
@@angelmendez-rivera351 It's not dump text, it's the actual dialogue. The Aspect of Demise is the king of the Demon Tribe, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say. He was as much a member of the Demon Tribe as Ghirahim. His hatred is also of the Demon Tribe because he is part of it. And why could it not be fostered by Ganondorf if it existed before him? Could I not foster an elderly person who was born before me, or an old magic power that I've rediscovered? This is an example of what I'm saying: The malice was in the universe already, literally being the residue of Aspect of Demise. When Ganondorf felt such hatred for Hyrule, it, the old power, manifested in him, and he unknowingly held it in his heart and fostered it. That is not impossible. I'm not sure why you think it is. Before we discuss anything further, I want to point out that I'm not Gameover Jesse channel or something; I'm not trying to say my theories are fact. I'm pointing out things that I noticed, and therefore are personal theories of mine. Yes, we use canon material to form theories but there's no concrete proof for any of it, otherwise their wouldn't be theories. So I apologize if I came of sounding like I was saying "Demise is malice" like a fact. That is not a fact. Just a theory!
@angelmendez-rivera3515 жыл бұрын
Availla Poncet The text dump IS the actual dialogue. The text dump is a website that lists every single textbox that occurs in the game, organized by character, location, etc. The reason I mention it is because almost no one on the West would have access to a Japanese release of Skyward Sword. Your theory does not sound like you saying "Demise is malice," but rather almost implying the opposite. However, Demise being Malice is basically canon. It never is stated directly in the form "Demise is Malice," but most things that are canon aren't stated directly.
@availlaponcet58775 жыл бұрын
@@angelmendez-rivera351 Ah! Well I'm glad to inform you that I didn't use that site. What my original comment was saying is that, thinking of Demise as an aspect of demise rather than just a single being of only one form, it would make sense that he (as in his physical body) is the original malice that all the malice originates from, and the remaining resentment of Link and Zelda is the "old power" so to speak, that was attracted to Ganondorf's hatred. Personally i'd like it if the reason for Ganondorf being sealed is that even though he defeated Calamity Ganon in an attempt to rid himself of malice. He was deemed too dangerous and thus got sealed. Given that 1 flash looks like Ganondorf got surprise attacked.
@astrangeone5 жыл бұрын
That would be a fun twist. Ganondorf tries to end the cycle of hatred by taking on the internal malice he has. He fails (maybe because the Zonai (the blueish/green hand) sabotages him - maybe because they thought Ganondorf was more of a danger), and the Malice pours out of him, corrupting the water sources, and just becomes this unchecked beast of a thing. Completely wiping out the Zonai in the process. Ganondorf's corpse (I fully believe he's gone) is possessed by the Malice. The Calamity Ganon flows into the palace (because Ganondorf was obsessed by power and that was a symbol of power), and beings to absorb more powerful technology (eg. the sheikah bits). Calamity Ganon then takes over the Divine Beasts and the Guardians. The Divine Beasts sheer amount of energy makes the different bosses form out of the different bits of energy. The battle at Fort Hateno happens, Link is severely injured, Zelda hides the master sword and goes off to seal/do battle with Calamity Ganon. It's possible that because malice is just unthinking and just instinctive, Zelda was able to hold it in the cocoon for a while... In BoTW2, it was shown that Zelda and Link were exploring the caverns somewhere. Possibly it happened because the Malice keeps forming new mindless Ganon clones and Link and Zelda needed to find the source of the Malice... Keep in mind that Ganondorf even in Ocarina had the power to curse things. Remember he has a thing for watery monsters/curses - Jabu Jabu and the water temple thing both featured poisoned water. That poisoned water could have been pools of Malice.

I think he's going after the dragons first. He was already getting started on one, but Link intervened. It definitely felt like the writers were steering away from making any mention of the Triforce in BotW, and I can't help get the feeling that those dragons have something to do with their plan.

I noticed you mention how the eyes look like the eyes of malice, but not something else. Those eyes pop *into* place, almost as if the inverse of eyes of malice popping *out* of existence. Perhaps after you remove the golden gauntlet (or rather after link removes it) it allows Ganons body to be fully corrupted? As I am of the belief that this cut scene takes place in the distance past, at the first birth of calamity Ganon, perhaps this is what the King refers to as "...his transformation into malice..."?

I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it but watching this video I realized for the first time the curious choice of words that Demise used for his curse. “Your kind will be doomed to walk a blood soaked path of darkness for all time” or something to that effect. “In a continuous cycle” and “for all time” could be a whammy on Demise himself. As this implies that his reincarnation would never truly succeed. Because for this cycle to continue for all time, so too must the world itself as the Hero and Princes must also be reborn for the cycle to continuously come full circle. So could Demise have sealed his own repetitive failure in the curse he set by ensuring the Hero and Princess would always be there to combat his own successor?

Here is the speech in Japanese : われ の ぞうお わ。。。 まぞく の のろい わ。。。 ゆうきゅう の とき の はてまで りんえ を えがく。 My hatred... The curse of the Demon Tribe... They shall continously go on reincarnating until the end of all times. わすれな! くりかえす の だ!! Do not forget it! I shall repeat it!! おまえたち わ。。。 めがみ の ち と ゆうしゃ の たましい を もつものども わ とわ に この じゅばく から のがれられぬ! You people shall... You people who possess the blood of the Goddess and the soul of hero shall... forever be unable to escape from this curse! この ぞうお と おんえん が。。。 その こんけ が きさまら と とも に ちねられた やみ の うみ を えいえん に もがき さまよい つずける の だ!! This hatred and grude... Its evolution shall forever painfully wander across this blood-stained "Dark Sea" along with you lowlifes forever!!

Demise never cursed Link and Zelda. He cursed the Demon Tribe. This speech was a prediction. The evolution of his Hatred and Grudge could refer to Calamity Ganon.
