Lovely deep reaction, Stax. It's a treasure to see someone experiencing these classics for the first time, and fully appreciating them, just like I did 50 years ago. For me this performance is so poignant. It takes me back to the sensitivity, hope, and creativity of those long-gone years. No computers, no phones, just quietness, care and dreams.

I'm an old Hippie of 69, the first time I heard Echoes was not long after Meddle was released and 4 of us split a tab of Window pane acid, just before putting on that album in 1971, needless to say we were not prepared when that epic went into screaming albatross experimental mode and they shot us to the moon. Been a Pink Floyd fan since Ummagumma in 1969 and the Meddle album was their zenith in the pre Dark Side of the Moon days. It was a launching pad for more greatness to come from them in the 1970s. More Floyd! Do One of These Days, which was the classic track leading off the other side of that album. The studio is immaculate but it is also just plain sick live at either Pompeii or the Pulse Concert. Top 3 band for me with The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Everyone else comes after those 3, the Mozart, Beethoven and Bach of Rock Music. They will be heard just as long as those old classical masters, the highest form of musical art. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶🔥

The other night, we saw Nick Mason and Guy Pratt live in Concert With Nicks new band. About as close as you will ever get to seeing Pink Floyd Live. They played Echoes, and the experience was out of this world, to be in the same building as an original Pink Floyd co founder is a privilege

Really cool watching your reaction to 'Echoes'! It's one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, and it's awesome to see someone from a younger generation appreciate this music!

Yes this Pink Floyd live at Pompeii is an interesting watch because interspersed throughout the movie or documentary whatever you want to call it are segments of them recording Dark Side of the Moon!! One of the things I've noticed about Floyd is they seem to know the exact length of the human attention span! The reason I say that is if you're ever listening to one of their songs and you start to think I might want to turn the dial or this is starting to get........ Just before you even think something different the song changes! The Pompeii video has a lot of their older songs very well done I think you'll really enjoy it!!! I love the conversation between Richard Wright and David Gilmour at the end when they're talking back and forth to one another with guitar and keyboards!!! It's kind of like they're saying "that was fun let's do it again tomorrow"!

PF, Bach and Beethoven are my favourite artists by far, because they all have made me feel emotions that I did not know were in me. However, PF had already been together for about 7 years at this point, and I love their pre-Dark Side stuff more than the later, more popular output. Check our Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother and Relics, for example. I went to one of their gigs in 1970 or 71 and it was one of the best (of many hundreds) I have been to.

I saw this on the big screen at the UC Theater in Berkeley, CA in the early 80s. The theater still stands to this day (2036 University Ave.). Back then they showed a different double feature every day, with few exceptions but the annual animation festival, Rocky Horror every Saturday night, etc. They printed a single sheet calendar (two months front and back) with all the upcoming movies. James Bond, Abbot and Costello, Led Zeppelin, Pink Panther, Pink Floyd, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Maltese Falcon, Laurel and Hardy. Little Rascals on a massive screen. It was a great way to see old movies not edited for television. Early James Bond w/ no commercial breaks was fantastic in those years before video rental exploded.

Back then, just before home video recorders, dvd's, watching it was pretty much impossible mission for most people including me. You'd have to be lucky it was shown in a independent movie house or something to experience it in it's full glory. Even then you'd have to be lucky the movie house had a stereo sound system; all that was pretty new at the time. I got it on audio cassette tape first (like a 3rd generation copy), and got the vinyl record for my birthday a year later. Didn't actually get to see it until well in the 80's.

Ogni volta

That's GENIUS of Pink Floyd, they don't throw 3 minutes of rapid fire words over a 3 minute beat, because that's hard for your brain and doesn't allow time for your own thoughts, your stuck trying to process the straam of someone else's ideas. Pink Floyd give you time. It's as if, each person who sings, AND each individual instrument has "lyrics" but it's up to you to translate the instruments lyrics with your own thoughts.

It takes analogue equipment to make a lot of Pink Floyd's sounds. Not all, but many. Like those whale sounds with Gilmour's guitar. :)

As I mention to others, Echoes was post-grad Pink Floyd. Your 'normies' who were "Floyd Fans" probably never even heard Echoes. It took someone who picked up Meddle and noticed the 2nd side was one song. It never played on radio for sure. Maybe some late night radio shows. Echoes was their Opus to us freaks. Not very early days at all. Early days of Floyd are Syd Barrett Floyd. Top rock stars of the era were known to hit up PF shows. Not many other bands except maybe the Velvet Underground were so respected by other artists of their era as PF was.

Thoroughly enjoying your trip down the Floyd rabbit hole. ... I, personally, would love to see another album reaction. Specifically, the album that follows this one, and is criminally overlooked; "Obscured By Clouds." It's a transitional album, like Meddle. It's not a grand concept album, but it's warm and intimate. I describe it as like having breakfast with the band in your pajamas.
