Was using my old Playbook to drive my video clock for years but the battery puffed up. Lets see if I can make it, or an old Z10 work without a battery.
You know... for safety as gassy lithium batteries are just too dam risky to leave plugged in.

Dave you can try leaving the battery BMS chips connected to the tablet but cut the connections to the batteries and remove them. Also Isopropyl alcohol is great for removing double sided tape from batteries and makes them easier to remove.

I had a BlackBerry years ago. I loved it alot. Loved the keyboard and it allways just worked. Kinda sucked for KZbin but it always did the job. At the end of its life i used to have to periodically jumpstart the battery with a 9 volt to get it to charge.

Flooding the back of the battery with alcohol makes the adhesive give up and the battery comes out easy, its the same as laptops they wont startup without a battery

I have an old Proscan tablet that has HDMI, but I never found any good clock apps for android that I either liked or didn't have ads every 3 minutes or so.

I have one of those Proscar tablet too. Yes ad city and apps that crash. Thats the beauty of the playbook and z10 the clock apps (I have them all on the z10 phobe) are all ad free and it never stops except when the power goes off.

Now that the phone is up and running again it will be the time display. Playbook had to stay off network and be connected every few weeks to correct the time. Phone pulls time from cellular network so it's always correct

Also i have let the gas out of a blaoted battery before by putting a ring of superglue around before i poked the hole, farted the gas out and immediately sealed it with scotch tape. Worked flawlessly.

Flash was disabled on all browsers several years ago. It was killed with a pushed update. It still works on the old phone because BlackBerry had ended updates of bb10 by this time. You would need an old computer that has not been online in years. Dame went for internet explorer. Its gone too.

@@12voltvids I've actually seen Internet Explorer on a windows 10 computer about a week ago. I also found that if you stop Microsoft edge from opening on your computer, you can still use IE. (Wouldn't recommend it though)

I think a voltage divider from the 5V source with an additional diode could help make the device think there's a good battery with 4.2V connected that just doesn't pull any current cause it is "full". That could maybe work. Edit: Ahh nice approach!

The bms chip works like s jewel. Putting the power to the leads where the battery was nope, but to the input terminals with the bms chip connected yup.

Try connecting the power directly to the battery terminal on the tablet

Yes I used that z10 for years. Also have a z30 and the android priv at work I had a curve, world edition, bold, q10 and q5 before we switched to Android. I wish blackberry was still around. They had the best phone for business.

I'm wondering what electricity bill you have with tons of stuff plugged in 24/7 ?
@12voltvids
@12voltvids 3 күн бұрын
That came down because the devices that run24/7 now have a 3 hour discount rate every day. It goes up for 5 hours in afternoon and goes down for 8 hours a day. So net 3 hour saving on all the crap that runs constantly.

I didn't know flash was dead. I saved swf files on my computer for games and stuff. I haven't tried opening a swf for years. I wonder why they removed flash? I need to look that up. Edit: I read it ended in 2020 for security reasons. But an article indicated a person can still play them after downloading a third party app.

We had security cameras at work that used flash and we have been swapping them out for the past few years. Adobe animate is the replacement but its not fully backwards compatable.

Yet You took all that risk for all those yrs letting the gas out of your phone battery ... and said it was fine. Now all you had to do was grab a BMS from somewhere, put a 1meg ohm resistor on it.

That was my work phone. It stays in my work truck. If it burst into flames and burned my work truck to the ground that would be happy days as I would get a new truck. A dangerous battery would not make it past the front door.

You get the batteries out of any device by simply running some IPA down the back of the battery you obviously don't work on modern crap like phones & laptops & yet I'm the same or possibly n older age as you & do this daily at night after my mechanical repair business so yeah I'm a busy person.

Have only changed a few phone batteries that were stuck in and they both had batteries that popped out easily. No alcohol needed. Just lifted the corner and they popped right out. My laptop has a removable battery. To get the back off the phones I use a hair dryer on low heat, spudger and playing card.
