Can we go back in time? I love Design Inc! Really miss the combination of Sarah and Tommy!

I LOVE Sarah and I think she is transitioning ...as noticing its like she does not really want input from others as much as just someone there silently getting her drift and playing along...maybe so they GET IT and run with it. Like trying to duplicate herself? It’s just uneasy feeling ...even with Tommy around the island cabin he seems disempowered. The partnership with her husband on projects seem to be transitioning into a new model. She has a lot on her plate. And who knows ...but I get it.

@@jeanlaubenthal698 No. I don't get it. Most of us live where there's another person. Design requires taking into consideration other's interests and creative contributions. I don't get the 'yes' wo/'man' thing Sarah is doing. Boring to watch and not helpful when trying to design our own place.

Could have worked with that rug. Especially since the homeowner loved that rug. Could have just repainted those red chairs too. It would have still looked great and the person who has to actually lived there would still have the things she loved. I usually love Sarah’s work but I think she went for the more TV ready look than using her skills to suit the client’s wishes. The furniture looks “well shopped” like she went to home goods and bought some stuff. It could have looked just as put together with that rug and those chairs.

Love the dining room; don't like several things about the living room. Who wants to sit on the couch looking into the appliances in the kitchen? For unity I would have had the same fabric for drapes in both rooms. I also think the photos hanging in oversized frames look out of whack. But yes, this is all a huge improvement over what was there originally.
@jhutch168128 күн бұрын
Love the living room drapes; and the dining room drapes and window seat, especially set against the beautiful blue and white dishes. The table is great with the slip covered end chairs. Not a fan of the slime green or the overpopulated picture gallery with all the ribbons, and with the larger coffee table the room looks crowded. Don't love either rug. Somehow the living room comes off as both busy and dull. The wall treatments are great in both rooms.

Did you see how badly cut it was when it reached the door. The finish was terrible.
@christineh57903 жыл бұрын
I think if you look closely you will see that it is indeed a plate rail? The wider board on top of the ‘picture rail’ has a groove cut into the middle which stops a plate from sliding off. You can see it in detail if you pause the video at 20:17 where the rail ends.

Think the green was kinda forced in this project. Loved the blue and making her dishes work. After diner coffee might be moved into other room. And, same blue and drapery fabric would have worked. Keeping the two rooms more cohesive might have been richer looking. The gallery wall looks busy ...but I love the concept...maybe have all at same level or not so many..or maybe it doesn’t work in this room. Painted stripes in both rooms less expensive? But i do love me some wallpaper.

The dinning room is perfection, but the living room would've been on a different level had they used Sarah's green for the sofa and the coffee table was black. The only thing I dont like the hanged picture, they look like clutter.
@maryoleary20373 жыл бұрын
Agree about the hanging pictures...too cluttered. I would have preferred a horizontal piece of art, not necessary expensive, but something that pulled in all the colours of the room and went along the sofa.
@valkyriesardo2783 жыл бұрын
The designer considers 15,000 a tight budget for this makeover. The designer is outside of my budget. I might find some ideas in this video but not likely. The end result is lovely but I have two reservations concerning functionality. The fireplace becomes useless given the position of the dining table. The white dining chairs look miserably uncomfortable. The red chairs were removed because a coat of white might chip. I see no problem with stripping off the red paint first. I don't understand why the contractor designed a window bench that was no deeper than a book shelf. Does the man not know his craft? What I like best is the solid paint colors in various shades of green and blue. The colors scheme is based on the fabric chosen for the drapery. I don't understand why they did not work from the existing sofa which was both attractive and good quality. Why commit the palette to a drapery print when there is such a vast selection of fabrics? I sew well enough to replicate that slipcover for the sofa. So I cringe at the 500 they spent on what seems to me an unnecessary slipcover.
@EtreTocsin3 жыл бұрын
It is for the TV drama that “mistakes” happen and the owners wanted a change which is why they went for a different color scheme. And yes most of us rehular folk would never be ab,e to afford a designer. $15000 For furniture paint labor etc…is almost nothing.
