Breathing with the Dead: Accessing Ancestral Wisdom

When the focalizing gesture that is the body dies, consciousness changes. The dead speak also through the stones, the trees, the wind and weather. For people of widely divergent ancestries and geographies, practices for tending these conversations between the incarnate and the freely moving ones have been commonplace for most of our history as a species. And yet now, in our time of great reckoning and necessity, the ancestors too often fail to find a seat at the table.
In this session we discuss a bit and then enjoy two cycles of light, inclusive, safety-oriented ritual practice to listen into the perspectives of our wise and kind ancestors on human-driven climate change. We explore how these bodies also contain the world, the troubles and the medicines, and share pragmatic perspectives on ways to invite ancestral wisdom into movements for social and earth justice.
