Great video, I agree. Breeding to your vision as long as it’s within the breed standard is okay. A little variation is okay. But when you breed to your vision outside the standard that’s when it becomes a problem. Don’t worry, you see the movement already starting. We’re bringing back the real American bully.

The best way I saw it put was said that you should breed to your vision but within the standard. Your vision should be what sets your bloodline apart and people say that’s a Lacayan Bullyz dog when they see it. But at the same time they know they’re looking at an American Bully.

I agree except I don't like adding the Terrier name onto it, may as well say Am Staff. That kinda gives the wrong impression to what the breed is and would possibly create a backwards progression.

I prefer the Terrier in it, because that is part of the original roots. But also we want terrier physical ability, but on a much bulkier dog. We should want some similar features enough to tell where it came from but different enough to see that it is something else.

@@ninjacoach1 have you owned pure terriers before? As in working terriers. We have raised multiple terrier breeds over the course of 37 yrs. I sure do not want my American Bullies with the terrier mentality. A terrier is a working dog, American Bullies were never bred for that intention. Reason why UKC has them placed in the Companion group.

Good video always great info. How are the puppies doing. We all know what the real American bully standard is. If you look at people breeding to the original written standard the dogs do have a consistent look. If you see people breeding to abkc standard the dogs are all over the place.

I agree with u that people however the problem I believe lies in the fact that our breed standards consistently changed over the years. The grand champions of the pass resembled more the classic and the champions of ten years ago were more extreme and now it’s like a hybrid of the two.

It makes sense because David Wilson did speak on how he believes the classic is a step backwards and that’s the reason why they infused the extreme in with standard of the pocket, standard and xl. My problem isn’t with the extreme of course it could be a bit much, rather the breed type bulldog, mastiff features that over take the dogs phenotype. People are breeding dogs that don’t look anything like a bully and calling it such

You can breed to your vision within the standard and that’s how it should be. There is a ton of diversity in the American bully one of the reasons it’s so popular imo. With so much diversity in the standard no reason you shouldn’t breed to the standard. The abkc has made the standard and that’s the bar you breed towards that. Now that’s not to say a dog that falls outside the standard a little like beanstock he shouldn’t be bred. A stud like beanstock is a great tool to take to females on the other end of the spectrum that don’t meet the standard because they are lacking to much imo.

When trying to perfect a breed, you stay away from dogs like Beanstock. There are other dogs to use as tools that are built much better.

Take some of that mass off his head would look just normal. I have the blood and bone of my dogs have that eye set but there heads not as big as his either

If people don't want to classify it as a different breed why not do it like they did the Bull Terrier(Bulldog type, Dalmation Type, & Terrier Type, then they Bull Terrier that's a Balance). Instead there is the Terrier Type(Or Classic American Bully)and The BullDog Type(Extreme American Bully). I can understand wanting rounder cheek muscles on the American Bully but i would love to see it more with a longer muzzle, to keep the American Bully as it should be a Muscular heavy set, but athletic dog and have the heights listed 22"-13" like UKC who doesn't have class like the ABKC. Being honest i love the cheek muscles on the Grimm but not his muzzle or Eye shape, might explain why i like Suarez Bulls so much, they keep the athletic body and keep breeding to the round cheeks without the Bulldog.

I have my boy who to me is more Bulldog type and i don't like it so i plan to take him to a female with a more terrier look, i cant do the bulldog look. Being honest the first time i hear of the American Bully was with a Terrier Type named Bella and she reminded me of a legit Bull. Thats what i really want to recreate keeping to the standard though. Making a power point soon enough , about the standard from UKC & ABKC
