You are my biggest inspiration (besides ol' Steve)! After I first watched your "can you train a lizard" video almost 4 years ago, I decided that I would not continue doing things I didnt love, in favor of things I do, and I LOVE monitors. I had reptiles before but really dove in after watching your video and a couple others, from creators who have devolved... a lot, you are still here to educate and not for views, and, you have to excuse me, but I respect the fuck out of that. Monitors have always been a favorite of mine and your videos made me realize that I can follow my dreams. Right now I'm still just a guy who works in a reptile store with a weird niche hobby that absorbs most of my time, but I hope and believe that I can one day be respected and admired in my field. Might even shake your hand one day. That would be cool. POST MORE CONTENT.

I can't thank you enough for this video series. I've been working with V. acanthurus and V. gilleni for about a year now. The Ackies have been super successful for me; I mean, they're Ackies, that's what they do haha, but the Gillen's have been an enigma and haven't really had any action since I've been working with them. I've been scouring the internet for any information I can find on the subject, but most of what I've been able to find is either focused on basic husbandry or anecdotal at best. I'm also rather detail oriented; I very much appreciate knowing exactly what's going on in any particular process with my animals, because I've found being that thorough has allowed me to be more effective at problem solving. This video series has been both incredibly thorough and easily digestible; I feel much more prepared to go back and start tackling my breeding projects again.

Thank you! I'm the same - detail orientated with a need to know what is going on.

Thanks, Roman! I'd have to edit it down to its bare minimum, as I get a bit indulgent with having too many videos of the same behaviour from different angles (and different reproductive events). I see this series as my videos for the trainspotters - the hard core reptile people. Most in this series top out at around 4,000 views whereas some of my other videos have over a million.

I have 2 females and one male spiny neck.. (Spinulosus) Not much information on them breeding online.. 1 wild caught female 3-4years old+.. and 1 captive female yearling.. Male 1.5 years old seems wild caught… They are all in separate enclosures currently as I’m waiting for the male to be mature enough for the older female... both females are super aggressive and wild acting… (hissing tail whipping) the male is much more sweet. This was about the best vid series one could watch one could have come across… as far as timing and egg laying goes, huge fan of vids 3 and 8. I’m wondering if I should use some sand/ thicker mixed for potential clay shaping ability with coco fiber substrate for a Solomon Islands species? The smaller species just seem so flighty and have a ridiculously high energy. Meaning… a higher prey lookout sense and needing to dig deeper… or possible mounted nest box in the upper area away from the direct basking? Mikes Monitors has that awesome duct tape heat pad termite mound.. so.. many… cool options !!! But I’d want to do it right overall, any advice appreciated.

I think they're probably a substrate nester rather than termite mound/nest box but give them a lot of options to find out what they prefer

I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to that. I rarely get enough spare time to work on videos, but then when I do I am too much of a perfectionist so I put in a lot of time for a tiny segment of video. Part of the problem is also that I have a lot of raw material to go through - years of accumulated photos and videos.

I'm on Facebook and Instagram, but don't post much captive monitor stuff on either. Mostly wildlife from around my house, so when I do post about monitors it's wild ones.
