Lucky Robbie's there to climb that hill for you and Pops does a nice job, considering she's your first border collie. Most people haven't a clue how to train a BC; good advice for new shepherds is to buy a dog that's already trained by a well-respected dog man/woman and take some lessons with that trainer. It's more expensive, but saves a person a lot of headaches and also saves a pup from being ruined. Maybe get your girls to run a slicker or furminator through your old St Bernard and spruce it up for Christmas.

Great videos. I do be looking forward to the next one coming out. Heres a question for ya, i know your trying a Texel ram on 10 ewes as a trial, How would a beltex ram cross back on a Liyne ewe do you think? Or have you heard from other breeders? Thank you and Happy Christas.
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
I think beltex would produce shapely lambs but might lack size as neither Lleyn or Beltex are overly big sheep. Plenty of farmers crossing Lleyns with Charollais rams for factory lambs. Can be a little bare at lambing but weight well. Might try them next year. We'll see how the texel cross goes first.... Good luck..👌

BEAUTIFUL flock of lambs Im starting up with sheep ive worked on my uncles farm he passed away and all farm livestock sold 200 texels exes and 10 rams texels. What advice you would give me in best sheep for beginners
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
Hi Colin, Sorry to hear about your uncle. Great to hear you're continuing the farmer! Pick an easy managed breed to start with and don't buy expensive sheep to start out with. There is so much to learn, best doing it on less expensive stock. Good luck 👍

Why do u keep so many ewe lambs
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
All kept for breeding hoggets to sell next Autumn. Will need to sell more as lambs moving forward I think!

Brilliant as usual, loving the craic with Robbie! It’s plain to see you love the sheep even though they’d give you grey hairs at times. I started my own small flock of easycare sheep last year and have 10ewe lambs hopefully yeaning next march all going well. Love the content David, learning loads so thanks for sharing. Mind yourself and the ankle.
