Anima Prime has been attacked by a generic evil corporation looking to hunt dragons and grind up anima for profits! The wizards aren't happy about their new neighbours and have put together a plan to carefully craft relationships, marriages, and births to eventually create the ULTRA WIZARD, capable of defeating their foes once and for all!
This is a Magic VS Tech style playthrough where we play the Magic side of things. Enemy factions raid with drones, tanks, mechs, and your standard mechanoids, but on your side you have an abundance of psycasting mods, genes, and wizardly equipment. Everyone, no matter what faction, will be touched by the planets magic in some form, and will be born new and powerful genes which you can collect and inherit through your own colony!

Suggestion: None mages should only wear butler and maid uniforms (and possibly a guard uniform but then again, combat maids kinda feel appropriate). That way we can easily identify who is who and everyone can see who is in charge. Might also be worth later to use dye on robes of the wizards in select colours based on their skills instead of using those tiny signs on the portrait. I think this theme would be perfect for some visual storytelling. :)

@@Sirfinchyyy Yuck, no way. A wizard community with butlers and maids is still kinda cool but Sam is not going for the Warhammer aesthetic here. It is better to have the wizards differ the color of their robe by what magic they have and rank maybe by how large and ridiculous hats they wear (that is more Discworld but it works). An archwizard hat is kinda a must. We already seen that Grignr series that is a mix between Wow and D&D, a lot of edgelords there.

I have heard about it corrupting saves, causing massive slowdowns and not being compatible with half of the workshop. It does work, it does allow you to dig down and is stable enough to have a series built around it, just don't complain when something breaks.

I have a chronomancer in my current colony. It's not generations, we just DESPERATELY need to invent birth control. You can use the age and unage spells to do some really goofy things. 1. Instantly aging a kid to 21 is worse than a growth vat and you end up with a pawn that has no traits and 0s in every skill. This can be helpful if you lean really hard into gene modding and everything good about the pawn is in their genes, but it's usually really bad. 2. You can age someone back into a kid to farm traits, but it's insanely buggy. Sometimes you get stuck with a pawn unable to do any work type. 3. Chronomancers are immortal with some micromanagement. Aging another pawn will de-age the caster. You can end up with a weird time vampire thing going on where the chronomancer steals the youth of all the useless prisoners. Chronomancer is one of my favorite trees from VPE, just because of the bizarre utility and weird strategies it brings to the table.

Chronomancy and Deathshield create an unusual interaction where the normally instantly lethal heart attack can be treated. In one colony I had a prisoner who (I think killed one of my colony kids) was entombed in the depths of the mountain, and periodically we would perform age-manipulation rituals to keep the entire colony young, at the cost of functionally turning them into a still-living mummy, just a husk locked away in the rock, unable to move, just withering away and prevented from dying as their life force was siphoned but never depleted.

Two suggestions for Colony names (Because I always start watching series at episode 2 for some reason) We can't stop here, it's Kappa Country (Or just Kappa Country) Alternatively be aspirational, you have a group that revere Dragons, likes Dragons, learned from Dragon and wants Dragons to be around again fighting against anti-dragon forces...... So name it Dragon's Roost, you don't have Dragons now but one day you will.

Also suggestion for wizards towers, Skipmaster gets to Skipdoors and then creates portals that are then completely enclosed with access points in a central "Tower" like the different floors/ wizard's homes. There's a pathing mod that allows pawns to treat the adjacent tiles of connected skipdoors as adjacent to each other. Unfortunately they don't get the fun "woosh" and warble animation but considering how often they will probably be using those, that'll probably be a good thing xD Don't know how well this would work without significantly bumping stats or altering the skipdoor costs, as it permanently locks you out of some of your "mana" iirc, but if you're using them primarily for fun aesthetic shittery like this, probably fine to bump the costs down for the sake of that
