Ape Escape 2 is my favorite game of all time probably, or at least it’s up there. This is a great remix, I have some questions: 1 - how did you get the ape sounds and the “getchu!” voice clips? They sound like the exact ones used in the original song 2 - did you transcribe this song and then play each part yourself? If so, would you be able to tell me what notes are played in the main melody (starting at 13 seconds)?

Thank you very much, and yeah, I’m in the same boat. This was the first game I can remember playing, and I don’t know where I’d be without it. To answer your questions, I tend to use LALAL.AI to extract vocals from songs so I can use them in my remixes. I’d love to use the original samples, but no one’s figured out how to rip the music files yet. Which leads into the next answer, because there aren’t any midi/sample rips yet, I have to transcribe almost every song from AE2 (with the exceptions of the Travel Station and Pyramid Panic midis being tucked inside Pumped & Primed’s files). I’m not home at the moment so I can’t show you how the lead is arranged, but I can figure something out when I get back.

@@Turret3471I grew up in a smallish town called Placerville in Northern California and we had a local family owned movie and game rental store called Freddie’s Flicks, that was where I first rented and played Ape Escape 2. It was the first ape escape I’d ever played and I rented it for years until pumped and Primed came out in 2004, then in 05 I found a copy of 1, and finally in 2006 I learned of 3 in a Walmart catalogue and begged my dad to get it. It’s one of my favorite game series but 2 will always hold a place in my heart, I played it constantly alone and with my childhood best friend. And that would be awesome, I don’t have an ear for music like this that isn’t on the guitar since I don’t play keyboard or anything like that so I’d love to just play the melody over and over to entertain myself. That must be tough work to figure songs out by scratch, especially the drum breakdowns that are featured in Vita Z factory and Pirate Aisle. I’m sure you know the ones I’m talking about, they happen near the end of the songs before the loop. Those go incredibly hard

What's the fascination with AE2? I rarely see any AE 1 or 3 vids.
@Turret34718 ай бұрын
They're a lot harder to transcribe/arrange. I've got a bunch of stuff from 1 and 3 still in production, but figuring out how the original midis work on top of making them sound new enough is a challenge. Even as someone who's favorite game is 2, I wish I could finish stuff from the other games more often.

@@Turret3471 I see. The majority of them are masterpieces and I can see it being difficult to top that. Good luck with the WiP you have so far.

@@Turret3471I think that’s because 2 is the only game in the trilogy to not be composed by Soichi Terada. Koji Hayama takes a different approach with the music, and it’s just as good as Terada’s music, but in a different sort of way.
