From the moment someone casually mentioned the tv series’ Vera ‘ to me I knew that it was for me..I have loved it from beginning to end and all the rewatches. I think Brenda is marvellous. I LOVE how production finds glorious locations for what would otherwise be ordinary, boring scenes. When a witness wants to tell a DS what he's seen? They both step into an old cemetery in the yard of a 200-year-old stone church surrounded by trees. A character wants some fast food? She stops at a burger van on a grass bank on the edge of a tall cliff with the sea in the background and views for miles.

I loved this show, Vera, but I love anything that Brenda acts in. I also love her pooch Jack, he looks like my Dog Sailor who sadly passed at 15 years old recently, he was an empath therapy dog, and the best breed for all ages. Been a big fan for many, many years. Absolutely loved her in Outside Edge (wife of a cricket team player which I identified with as I used to do the teas for my husbands cricket team) and Saving Grace (became a cannabis grower) , among many others. Saving Grace was absolutely wonderful and so funny. I had to get my son to get me a copy of the DVD from the US as I couldn’t find it in the UK. Please, please, Brenda don’t retire just yet. 😊

Sad Vera is ending, but looking forward to what Brenda does next. She is a most versatile actor and a 'National Treasure' imo. Loved her in 'Little Voice' and 'Secrets and Lies', her autobiography 'Mixed Fancies' is a fascinating read of her early life and career, she is so down to earth and relatable really hope she has time now to write a follow-up.

Have loved Brenda Blethyn since first seeing Secrets and Lies back in the mid-1990s (and later films, including Pride and Prejudice). Watched every episode of Vera on DVDs and enjoyed them all.
