Welsh and Cornish are both beautiful and virtually indistinguishable, as Cornwall basically means “Horn of Whales,” as I’m sure you know. I thought it was offensive some English guy said Welsh people sounded as if they were coughing when they spoke, as if English were much better.

@@ungrateful-66 They're related but they are not as similar as that. Yes 'Wales' and the 'wall' of Cornwall have the same eytemological root, but it means 'foreigner' in old English.

I met this beautiful lady, and miss her sweet voice very much. she used to perform funny songs too, and had a large trunk on stage with different hats and props in it. I remember her bringing me to tears with a song called ballena, which was about the demise of the whales.

What a beautiful voice - I saw her live in Cornwall she reduced me to tears of laughter with her jokes and anecdotes in between songs - then to tears with a song called "I'm troubled" Such a warm personality exuded from her. I'm still searching for another copy of "Pipers Folk" - someone stole mine by borrowing and disappearing with it.

Beautiful! Lovely song, great singer. The Cornish have retained their culture, & the language is undergoing a rebirth at long last! We never forgot our roots, even growing up deep in the bush in Africa.

The pronunciation and accent she is singing in sounds very similar to Welsh, I wonder where, or indeed if, Brenda learned Cornish. Did she learn it as a first language or a second language, or just learn the words to the song? When I listen to today's Cornish speakers they sound very "West Country" when they speak Cornish, this performance is quite different. Absolutely lovely performance and very beautifully sung, what a wonderful singer.

Translation: Sunday Morning by Brenda Wootton Sunday morning, you in my bed, it’s daylight just now, Still you are sleeping, warm and snug by my side, Lost in some far-off land, far beyond a sight which awakens, You I love, you the guardian of all my being. I soon see my watch, eight hours passed already, Do I wake you with my kiss, do I bring you back into my life? Do I wake you? Oh! No! No! This precious moment will not last!
