Not everyone might know this but around 1986/7 when Herol Graham was at his peak , Brendan wasn't a full time boxing coach his main job was as a landscape gardening supervisor for a government scheme called ' NACRO ' . That stood for national care and rehabilitation of offenders , helping people get back on their feet having served a prison term and used to be in charge of the clients who did gardens . My late father was the manager of NACRO in Sheffield and spoke so highly of him and also former British middleweight champion Brian Anderson who was also involved with the scheme . I still have a couple of small presents that Brendan brought back from Las Vegas in June '86 when Herol fought on the undercard of the McGuigan / Cruz fight . What a great guy ! RIP .

I was at his gym for a little while...when I went to his house there were photos of him with celebs and royalty on the wall, but he was the real king. What a man. Made me sing the rainbow song in front of all the lads, announce my name in the ring before having me do a jumping spinning 360 hook kick in the air (he knew I used to do taekwondo), had me chauffeur him to a boxing event and put me on the door taking tickets even though I was no hard man, stuck up for me when a much better boxer I was sparring with bit me on the arm! I didn't want him to say anything but he said "come here" in a stern voice, stopped the whole gym and embarrassed the biter in front of everyone by telling him off. When we were in that gym he was our Dad and we gladly did as we were told.

Give a person a fish, feed them for them for a day. Give a person a fishing rod, feed them for life. Brendan Ingle gave people a toolbox, but it was up the person to turn will into skill.

You can tell the difference between 90s youngsters and now. In the 90s they were more well spoken. Now they sound like they havent learned how to pronounce properly.
