Brendan O'Brien Tribute Obituary (1962 - 2023)

Brendan O'Brien, legendary voice actor and creator of the iconic voices and personalities of our beloved Crash Bandicoot characters has unfortunately passed away.
This video took a long time because I wanted to do it right, and I couldn't get through the audio recording without welling up.
Though I never had the honour of meeting him in person or knowing him personally, his performances influenced my life and continue to inspire me.
You will be greatly missed, Brendan O'Brien. Rest in Peace.

Dang, that's sad. So many questions we could've asked. A voice used so little, that could've kept being used. Now he's.. gone. I can't even imagine how much this hurts to many people that played the original trilogy. May he Rest In Peace. He's with Mel Winkler and William Hootkins now.

I'm my mournful haste I have mixed up a few things, for Crash 1 it was David Siller who did the Papu Papu grunts and the Pinstripe laugh. The lab assistant noise I played was the "Howie Scream", but Brendan did the other lines for them!

Indeed. That definitive and sudden ending to that story is a whole separate part of the grief I feel, on a personal level. It gives me comfort to know he felt the way he did about his fans, and I'm so happy for you that you get to cherish that proud memory. That's amazing. :)

One thing you got it wrong is that Papu Papu was voiced by David Stiller (who also did the OOGA BOOGA), who was one of the devs of the Naughty Dog's Crash games. Anyway, prayers for his family and friends. Rest in Piece Brendan.

I never actually knew who voiced crash till I searched it up just now. Finding out he passed away while searching was a shocker for me. I didn't know his name or face but he was and is the voice of my childhood when I played these games. My older sister and I as kids used to yell "woah" at each other to see who could say it the closest to crash xD We still reference crash to this day. If only I searched him up sooner I would have loved to send a fan email, at least I now know who the person was. Rest in peace Brendan O'Brien.

I found it weird and sad how he wanted to voice Crash FOR FREE for N. Sane because he loved voicing him so much, And for Activision to turn him down feels so... Wrong. I hope we can find unused/uncompressed voice clips from the games, he seems like such a great and nice person. I believe That there was a uncompressed Brendon "Woah" In the twinsanity beta's before they made Crash silent. Come to think about it, alot of uncompressed PS1 sound clips where in the Twinsanity dev builds. If Activision let Brendon voice Crash then he would've been voicing Crash till rumble. Rest in peace.

This was a fantastic tribute to a fantastic man. Although in CB2, 3 and any other game using the original "Woah" he didn't voice any new clips for Crash. Only in CTR he did. I think CB1 and CTR had the most Crash clips by Brendon. Rest in peace Brendon. You will be dearly missed
