That's just the podcasts..... he works far more than that. Paying attention to life and writing comedy can be 1- 2hrs a day.... dudes doing standup multiple days a week. And if it isn't a set in LA he's flying places all the time to do shows and sets. Paying attention to fights even... that's part of what he needs for below the belt. There's more time there. And then the dude does shows for networks and some events. He works far more than 7hrs a week.

Breakfast Club shouldn't even be in the same sentence as JRE...I don't care how many hits it gets or who they invite on...its just some dudes fucking around with no real valuable content for the masses...I would even go so far as saying the Luke Thomas MMA podcast is way more valuable and informative than any Breakfast Club show...though it may be less widely recognized...You can tell Luke puts in a lot of time and effort into his shows not to mention brings in a wealth of mma knowledge to the table like JRE whereas all I ever got from the Breakfast Club is a few laughs interspersed with a lot of yelling and chaos...No comparison.

I've never seen a more unfunny guy off-the-cuff somehow have a comedy special. I mean, he's not remotely funny in regular conversation...but, with actual comedian friends writing your stuff and you just reciting it, I'm sure it becomes possible. Yeah, yeah...someone will cry that he writes his own stuff. Please...you'll have your hands full convincing anyone he's smart enough to write much of anything, including his own name.

@@lugzj3696 in the beginning,(before knowing he'd make a living from it) Brian callen wrote some stuff for him to say when they began doing the live podcasts tour, and that's what inspired him to do stand up. He's used that material ever since. So he has had writers, and in his behind the mic, he is having "joke/set meetings" whit his "openers" aka his "writers". Who cares if he does or doesn't have writers, it's still unfunny regardless. He's had his stand up under lock and key for years, and of the 2 or 3 clips that exist online, they're pretty bad, and not funny. Embarrassing, maybe the cringe will make you chuckle, but not funny in any way. You can also see how he tries to copy other comics' mannerisms and style too.

I just finished watching his special. I'm a big fan of Brendans podcasts and him as a person but this special was surprisingly not that good. There were no well written jokes, no big punchlines and he seems to take a lot of mannerisms from other comedians that just don't really work for him, if he is aiming to be a storyteller comedian instead of a set up > punchline comedian even that wasn't great and I've heard him tell way funnier stories on podcasts. I understand he is only 3 years into stand up comedy and have very high respect for him doing this it just fell flat for me. I'm not trying to hate on him and like I said I'm a big fan I just expected much more from this special.

Schaub is a great comic, and I'm happy for him in all of these new endeavors he's embarked upon, but I get the sense he's not "balls deep" in MMA anymore, which I believe is a mistake.
