Back in the seventy's, I worked for my father.. On Saturday he made me listen to the John Latchford Irish show... Boston area... I was rocker, and hated Irish music.... After a while i got to know the songs and who sang them... All these years later I still have these songs stuck in my head... Later I would get into country music.. One night a woman who manged an Irish band said Irish music, country music, same thing... she was right.... Someone said the lennon's and McCartney's came from Ireland.... Who would have thought the Beatles an Irish band......

We went to Dublin as kids to visit relatives, we were walking along a street when suddenly it was crowded with hundreds of people after the Hurling match, my brother about twelve years old at the time started singing this and to our amazement the whole crowd joined in

They used to play this on a jukebox in a pub in the East End of London I used to drink in when I was young in the early 80's. All the Irish would sing along and me and my friends would laugh because we thought they were singing 'Do you want your old lorry washed down'

I was playing a country tune on my guitar - Love me tonight", written by Bob McGill in 1975, and made popular by Don Williams. My wife thought I was playing "My name is Dan" by Brendan Shine. Turns out the music is the same, but different lyrics. When did Brendan write "My name is Dan"?
