Since I was a little black girl in the 70's I have always loved bluegrass and country music, me and my sisters and brothers would watch The Grand old Opry. I always hid that side of me from other blacks but in this day and age 2019 you can express who you are and what you really like. Thank God!

Alison Krauss amongst the Bluegrass Greats as a mere KID!! A mere Child at the time.... she's 51 now. Many have to Work and Work and Work to finally get to Major League and even FINALLY break through. Precious Alison just SHOWS UP!! And receives her recognition HUMBLY!! Oh My....so TALENTED, yet such a SWEETHEART of a a DECENT and HUMBLE Human Being. I've heard her in MANY interviews. NO EGO OR ARROGANCE at all.........even as AWESOME as her Singing and Playing "Definitely" is!!.......So many ARROGANT artists with not even HALF of Alison's Talent!!! God just BLESSED Her.........NO QUESTION!!!

Sat on the floor beside my pop pop and watched this live on TV. That ole man was great in his day, had his time on the Grand ole Opry, put out too many tracks to number, drove truck for a good long while too. I lost him 3/14/2020 at 91 yrs young. Heart attack, passed at home quickly. Miss that man dearly. This one took me back. They don't make em like his kind no more and that goes for good country and blue grass music the same

Is it just me, or are there no egos here? You have assembled some of the very best bluegrass musicians and no one is hogging the spotlight (or the mic, for that matter). You can tell that they each enjoy one another's expertise. It's beautiful.

FanBritLit If they're not friends, they're compatriots in the craft and on the stage. Having been in the music business, I can tell you the really great ones enjoy one another's playing and playing with one another. Some of the shallow, nervous rockers I've known and dealt with (you'd know their names) were genuine jerks, but others were and still are friends. I'm sure there are some jerks out there somewhere in Bluegrass and older Country and Country and Western, but I haven't met them. And these boys ain't them! I've had nothing but good times and good new friends from the shows and concerts.

If you do not see why a Jazz musician would be in awe of this. Well I have heard that we have a common love of playing a tune and then SOLOING on it it in our personal way.based on the heart and soul of the musician and his life-world. I love Blue Grass. Yet my life has led me to express myself in Jazz. May we seek commonality and not division. This is the name of the Spirit that speaks to both of us. God Bless.

I agree with the comment about no egos and no selfishness. All of them were great musicians in their own right but came together to collaborate on this song.

Just stumbled across this today and what a joy to see and hear all of these great musicians together. Been years since I have seen many of them and saw several of them as just youngsters in Winfield, KS when they were being discovered at a young age. Lots of talent for sure on the stage with John Hartford going home in his Steam Powered Areoplane. RIP

When I put my first little band together way back in the early sixties, I'd come home and tell my Dad how good we were and he told me one night "son, if you're really good, you won't have to tell anybody". These guys and gals don't have to tell anybody. They just step up and let their instruments do the talking. I wish I had the time to tell a story about sharing a gig with John Hartford one afternoon in Atlanta, but it would take too long to tell it completely. But let's just say I watched him absolutely destroy an audience, by himself, from the stage in the Omni in Atlanta one afternoon. What a kind and gentle soul he was. I loved him from that day on once I really got to know him. RIP my brother! We miss you.

My Mom has been gone almost 23 years but I grew up listening to her play guitar and her brother on the banjo! They sang this song a lot! Good memories!

When I was a kid in Ky., people carried their instruments in there car! We didn't have TV down there, but Mom and the guitar and her brother and banjo, people stopped by! We'd sit on the front porch and sing and dance! Grew up on this music! Love it!
