Is it just me, or are there no egos here? You have assembled some of the very best bluegrass musicians and no one is hogging the spotlight (or the mic, for that matter). You can tell that they each enjoy one another's expertise. It's beautiful.

FanBritLit If they're not friends, they're compatriots in the craft and on the stage. Having been in the music business, I can tell you the really great ones enjoy one another's playing and playing with one another. Some of the shallow, nervous rockers I've known and dealt with (you'd know their names) were genuine jerks, but others were and still are friends. I'm sure there are some jerks out there somewhere in Bluegrass and older Country and Country and Western, but I haven't met them. And these boys ain't them! If you do not see why a Jazz musician would be in awe of this. Well I have heard that we have a common love of playing a tune and then SOLOING on it it in our personal way.based on the heart and soul of the musician and his life-world. I love Blue Grass. Yet my life has led me to express myself in Jazz. May we seek commonality and not division. This is the name of the Spirit that speaks to both of us. God Bless.

When I put my first little band together way back in the early sixties, I'd come home and tell my Dad how good we were and he told me one night "son, if you're really good, you won't have to tell anybody". These guys and gals don't have to tell anybody. They just step up and let their instruments do the talking. I wish I had the time to tell a story about sharing a gig with John Hartford one afternoon in Atlanta, but it would take too long to tell it completely. But let's just say I watched him absolutely destroy an audience, by himself, from the stage in the Omni in Atlanta one afternoon. What a kind and gentle soul he was. I loved him from that day on once I really got to know him. RIP my brother! We miss you.
