Please help me rid this confusion...how do you keep track of the rocker measurement details or custom profile of the rocker and board thickness from stringer out to rails near nose (and tail), along with deck contour, symmetry, etc. if you skin or plane the whole board top and bottom? But more important, for example, if I wanted to alter the entry and tail rocker to be flatter in front (nose entry), and kicked up slightly in the tail, is there numeric measurements that have to be written out first to ensure you don't shape it too thin in certain areas or screw with the boards planing performance?? And would you have to shave some from the middle of the board to adjust or fix such mistakes in entry or tail rocker profile? (sorry for the bombardment of questions)....Thanks for the video!

Sweet video. You know when you joined up the dots, you had a template tool, what is the proper name of it, is it your own shape to get the curves, is their rules to these curves?
@PaulCarterArt12 жыл бұрын
This video as you can see i skinned the deck and bottom before putting outline down. I draw template and cut the outline out now before skinning the blank. It saves time walking and planing the board. check out cboards.com for more photos and videos. Sign up on the email and subscribe for the latest. Also you can find me on instagram under pcboards. Thanks for the comments and thumbs up. Stay stoked and Inspired and enjoy the ride of life.

would a standard wood plane work when your doing the paths on the board?
@PaulCarterArt11 жыл бұрын
You can make templates from any board you like. Most of the wood templates i use are modified over the years from surfing and shaping new boards. Have fun there are no rules in shaping

since you're running the planer exhaust to a vertical hose venting to a bag or outdoors.... why not run the power cord up the hose also ?........an old aircraft mechanic.........JRW

the dimensions keep the outline even on both sides of the board. Thanks for the question.

sorry for the delay Finn, You can use just about any plane as you find there are different grits or texture when using them. I use a wood plane for the tips of the nose and tail most of the time. Check out cboardsdotcom for more info thanks for the question. Have fun

so many dumb arse shaping vids on ytube, this one is the real deal. Thanks for the tips Paul.

why did you measure out the dimensions before using a template? can't you just use a full board template and trace the whole shape of the board, then cut? Thanks man
@aidanrichards1864 жыл бұрын
The customer probably wanted a more custom out line and he knew his desired nose/ tail width, you get more customization doing the “Frankenstein” template rather then just grabbing one you already have. does that make sense?
