When I used to have a, small, record shop online years ago, the record lables/distributors would send promo copies of upcoming releases; crazy enough, I have all the ones you picked up. Still have tons of promos stashed in boxes somewhere.

i have almost 5000 cd's and shop as often as I can..... never entered my mind to shop by genre, and then to put a couple back because they didn't fit the groupings I had. Not that it's a bad thing! Thx for giving War Babies and Russell Allen (from Symphony X) some love.

Keep on sharing your passion and, precisely, your happiness. It's inspiring. I've started my 2025 with the last Motörhead compilation, which works very well !

Alright just got through the video… still psyched that you got the War Babies. I reached out to Anthony a while back regarding that and at the time he wasn’t able to find one for me. Aside from the War Babies, a lot of cool stuff in this video. I swear you talked about Magellan before. You’ll like that record! Love the Helloween live record, I have the UK, Japan, and German released versions. Love the Scott Mosher stuff. I need to find Inferno still Too much to remember everything!!! Love the video, love the excitement as you’re talking about some of the stuff! Happy New Year!

Brendon, did you know Paul Stanley (of KISS) wrote two songs on that War Babies debut album-Hang me Up on the original release and on the reissue w/ 3 bonus tracks there’s a edit version of Hang Me Up & there are two versions of Cry Yourself To Sleep. Paul wrote Hang Me Up w/ guitarist Tommy McMullin & Paul co-wrote Cry Yourself To Sleep w/ lead vocalist Brad Sinsel.

The song “Solid Ground” has it all, fantastic melodies, vocals, beautifully sung. I’ve mentioned this on another upload of yours, but I’ll repeat, sorry…regarding the Beyond Fear cd you picked up (I have it too, great album). I'm starting to realize why certain bands release compilations over and over again...some who already own all of the material represented on a given compilation will buy it just to hear the songs in a different order.

Happy New Year Brendon. Fair Warning are a brilliant band. If you like that you will love all of their releases. Their Debut from 92' is an absolute monster of an album. My favourite would be 'Four' though from 2000. They have seven albums of which the first 5 are their best - I think. Their singer Tommy Heart also put out a solo album (Japan only) that is excellent called 'Spirit of Time'. The music on that is on the softer side. Have fun delving into these guys :)

Happy New Year and great stuff, usually around this time and going into the new year as things slow down, I tend to think about some things and catalogs to look more into, some of the things you had on the last few videos/pick ups I recall as getting promos of when I first started working in a music store (my first job) War Babies and also that Private Life cd brought back memories because I remember the days of the "Promo box" in the Store managers office and always looking at them etc...back then labels always dropped off tons of stuff you'd never see that today obviously . Interesting Bon Jovi find, I looked it up on Amazon and they want 90 bucks for it and thats too much I understand its an imported universal Japan, but the reviews for it not too good on amazon, some saying they didn't even get the blu ray, and things like that. So its an interesting compilation of songs good to see "these days" get the love, that album usually does get love on any compilations from Japan and the uk or South America basically because that album was bigger there than America by far same with "Crush". They skipped over alot thought with "What About Now" I have no problem skipping that altogether.

The Smiths comp is Louder Than Bombs which is the only thing I own by that band! Brian Eno said James 'Sometimes' was the most beautiful song ever. Their 1999 album Millionaires made me a fan. Great tracks like Crash, Just Like Fred Astaire and We;re Going to Miss You. Laid and Sit Down were the radio hits for James that most are likely to know!

Oz sounds interesting to check out. Nice Loudness and Helloween! Smiths Louder than Bombs was a great comp back in thr day. Although my fave Smiths is Hatful of Hallow (all BBC recordings) Been thinkimg about that Love and Rockets box set. Great band. I would def think of Fates Warning too! Didnt know there was some Replacements related solo albums. Good stack man! Cheers

I think it’s cool and interesting how you bring up your shopping tendencies by genre. When you listen to recent stuff taken in, do you try to play back chronologically by release? I ask because perhaps you get a good feel how a genre evolves over a span of years. I have watched your content for a while but I’d like to know how you catalog your collection. Excel…Discogs? What kinds of info do you include besides band/title? Last - What’s your ‘want list’ approach? Do you make a running list on your phone or other? Thanks.

When that Fair Warning CD was help up in front of the camera I also read it as "Fates Warning". The mind does play tricks on us every now and again. A friend of mine once bought a CD he thought was by Firehouse, a band he loved at the time - early 1990s. When he got back home and played the CD it made no sense to him; turns out it was by the band Firehose, not Firehouse.

Those Masterplan albums are excellent. I saw Preying Mantis a couple of years ago in a local pub/bar. They were excellent. Their Sanctuary album is the only thing I'd heard by them. I have that Alex Masi album on vinyl. It wasn't great as I recall. I enjoyed his Fire In The Rain album so was quite disappointed in this.

Big star with the Posies are much better live albums than the older ones. Old ones are good but not great cause they only did 3 piece. Love James, been on a kick myself. I shop the same way. Grab a bunch then start to narrow down👍. I mentioned Golden smog once before. Weird Tales is another good one

Hi Brendon, here's a question for your next Q&A. You mentioned you bought a live album even though you prefer not to collect live albums, yet you bought the Loudness live album Rise to glory Live in Tokyo, but you bought it based on the reason you might own everything else. That confuses me because if you hate live album's normally why buy them only based on you own everything else. No one is forcing you to buy a live or compilation album. So can you please explain that situation on your next Q&A? Thank you 👍
@BrendonSnyder
@BrendonSnyder 5 сағат бұрын
I never said I hate live albums. I said I’m not a fan generally but some live albums do click. As far as why I buy albums, I buy what I want and what I like. I don’t buy anything because I’m forced to.

Ok thats fair enough mate, I was just confused why you said you bought it based on that you have all the other stuff. Maybe theres an eliment I am missing. Sorry I shouldn't say you hate live albums, but I would love a better explanation of why you don't like live albums, that I am struggling with myself. Sorry not trying to upset you. And Happy new year from the UK

I’ve covered this many times in other videos but, I don’t like crowd noise when it distracts from the music like people talking, whistling, hooting, and hollering. Large live shows where the crowd noise is more like background noise and the live performance is on fire with lots of energy is very good. I’m also not a fan of lots of talking between songs and I don’t care for guitar and drum solos. Those are my pet peeves about live albums but there are plenty that are good.

I've been searching for that Obsession EP and anything War Babies/TKO for years. I still have three TKO albums on vinyl but, I listen to most of my music at work and I have to use my iPod with discreetly placed in ear monitors in the compartment in the collar of my jacket that the hood stows away in. I just haven't been able to get anything on mp3🤦‍♂ Yngwie with Mark Boals is always great and Alchemy is on of my favorite albums. Mark is also on War to End All Wars but,that one is probably my least favorite album they did together. Do you own Fire and Ice? Another killer post classic period album. I consider everything from the first album to Odyssey & Trial By Fire (live). JLT was the man for the job. I wish Yngwie had done more to keep Joe in the band. The second phase of the band is also very strong but, I do find the work he's done since 2000 less appealing. I still got them all in the collection, I just find myself rarely going back to them. The font on that Fair Warning album is definitely intentionally similar to the early Fates Warning logo! I still thought you had stumbled upon some demos or rarities from Fates all the way up until you said it was "Fair" Warning! I had Masi's debut album Fire in the Rain when it came out but, never really followed him after that. I'll have to see if that neon shark album has more bite to it. That first one was a little offf the mark in the songwriting department. The soloing was pretty good. I started listening to mostly Progressive Metal for about ten to fifteen years there and lost track of some of those up and coming guitar heroes I had been into. Tony McAlpine is a guy I kept following throughout. I'm not sure if you are into him or not. Such a talented musician!
