Man I wish you lived in my town. There is a restaurant down the street from me, it’s on Lake Ontario, beautiful location, but the worse food ever. It is a shame because it’s such a beautiful location. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and it was like eating a rock. We also got loaded fries, and everything on it can from a can. Horrible. I’m easy going, but it was the worse food I have ever eaten

From someone who grew up eating this type of food, I can tell you some of that isn’t the most wonderful. The goat hoof dish, you’re not meant to eat it, but rather the marrow, and the gravy it was in. Haleem is a delicious dish, when made correctly, at least. It takes a long time to make it too from scratch, so I can almost guarantee theirs is probably made ahead of time and frozen. It’s a real shame, made right Haleem is a wonderful experience in of itself. Edit: Also the “string” is actually the meat, and whether you have goat, beef or chicken haleem, the meat will always be that way because it is shredded when it is added to the lentil and daal gravy.

Haleem is lentils and wheat/barley along with meat that is meant to be cooked for a few hours (traditionally) until you end up with a thick, paste-like texture Or you can blend the mixture to get the same consistancy in Less time. The "Strings" they were eating was actually blended meat. It's meant to be enjoyed with Naan Bread and a squeeze of Lemon/Lime to help compliment the spices.
