I had only known John from his PG writing and these Rig Rundown's, but I was coming home from a Christmas visit in another state a few years ago, and my wife and I were walking through our home Airport, which was an absolute sea of humanity, and I spotted John in the crowd heading right for me. It was his height that made him stand out. I stopped him and said hi, and told him I really enjoyed his column, and it was the reason I subscribe to the actual magazine. I know I caught him off guard, because he was weary from his own Christmas trip, and just trying to make a connecting flight, but he was kind enough give me a few minutes, and to let me get a 'selfie' with him, which later ended up being a shot of our shoes. Oops! Anyway, yeah, he's tall.
