Brent Rodgers For your 2nd hi-hat, is that stand made for a second hi-hat? or did you do something to keep it open. I dont have a second hi-hat and Im thinking of just using two cracked 14inch crashes. I have a stack thats taking its place at the moment.
@BrentRodgersDrums10 жыл бұрын
DavieDrum98 Yeah it's made for hats, I'm using the Pearl CLH-1000! There's a spring between the cymbals that allows you to keep it open.
@DavieDrum9810 жыл бұрын
Brent Rodgers Ah okay, thanks for that haha. I really didnt know what that stand was. Ill probably just use my primary hats and switch off to the stack in parts of the song. Im looking forward to your next Meshuggah cover aswell!!

Man your drum tone is amazing. I would even go as far to say that I wish Thomas Haake's drum tone sounded a bit more like this. His drums are huge and a bit boxy, yours fits in a bit more with the modern djent periphery-esqe tone. Any way, you fuckin rock. I'm gonna have to spend more time learning Meshuggah tracks, it's an amazing way to improve all around as a drummer.

Hey Bent, nice cover! By the way I had a question... in this video you play the hihat pedal along the whole song. I can't imagine lasting even a minute putting the hihat pedal at that speed XD. Any tips for a beginner to "last" with the hihat pedal for long passages? Thanks

Cheers dude! They're set up as longboards, with the 'heavy' + 'power' stroke and link positions, respectively. I play with spring tension a bit, but currently using about medium to medium-tight. Beater height is maybe a hair higher than normal, and beater angle is pretty much factory.

Hey man, being new to the djent drumming style, (I've been a drummer for quite some time), It would be really helpful if I could get some insight from you as to how exactly you go about learning songs like this. Its really difficult for me to remember every displaced note/accent, and any tips would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work man it's truly inspiring!
@BrentRodgersDrums10 жыл бұрын
Hey dude! I start out by importing the songs into Logic (but you can use any DAW for this) and manually mapping out all the tempo and meter changes to a click. Then I transcribe the songs note-for-note, using Guitar Pro 5. Then, using the transcripts (along with my Logic session), I start playing along/learning the parts. I almost always start at a lower tempo than actual performance tempo, and work things up gradually. The memorization is just a natural function of pure repetition when practicing the parts.

thank you so much for taking time out to answer me man! gonna use some of these tactics for sure! best of luck on your future endeavors my friend
