If you read his last book it's not at all surprising the Shapiro invented him on the show. He hates anything that's considered Postmodern, but if you write a single paragraph bashing the stupidity of PC culture, he'll have on in a blink. Other than that, im willing to bet shapiro hates his writing style.

This is the exact reason I started to support him. Too much hyperbolic coverage from the msm made me support him. The problem with elites is they’re terrified of being called out. If you have someone who’s not afraid to say anything, that person may just say something about you that’s very significant and at the same time very true. And that can destroy your image of yourself that you’ve constructed, and the image others have of you. Sometimes permanently. PS... Bret Rocks!

Regarding Green book. Through all of forties, fifties, and sixties there was a larger portion of America then you'd think who actually did not care if you were black or gay. Everyone just got along. A days pay for a days work. That's how my folks were. I guess it's more accepted with poor people, because we have no choice who we live with and work with. Everyone around you is stuck, just like you. There is a comradery in that. That is why all the craziness is pushed by elites. Normal people don't care. Practicality beats ideology every time.

Well said Mary, I was born in 62 in Australia and your sentiments are mirrored in Sydney Australia all through the early 70's and onwards. The current state of communication and the so easily taken offence to almost anything is at the schoolyard level. It is pathetic to think adults take this garbage seriously and actually have laws changed to accommodate mass mental illness or disordered ideological feelings and not factual reality.

47:00 While I don't have much insight on the economic opportunities of the '70s and '80s, in reference to us millennials and being able to achieve financial success, there are PLENTY of avenues for that. University: Engineering, Physics, Computer Science/Programming, Nursing, Pre-Med/Law with the aim of Med/Law school, etc. Associates/2Yr: Nursing, Dental Hygienist, Radiology (and related fields), Nuclear Technician/Health Physics Technician, Nuclear Medicine Operator, IT Specialist, Web Developer, and so on. Trade skills: Nuclear Operator, Electrician, Welder/laborer, Radiological Control Technician, HVAC Technician, Construction Supervisor/foreman (usually requires on-job experience, but something that can be worked to), etc. And of course, there are way more options out there. I don't mean to be too unsympathetic to my own generation, but there ARE jobs / careers out there if you want to catapult yourself to the middle class and beyond, but you can't go to University and get some Liberal Arts degree, that won't cut it.
@TGuard00014
@TGuard00014 5 жыл бұрын
@John C Actually pre-med/pre-law is not currently a good economic opportunity. For one thing if you don’t get accepted into med or law school your degree is every bit as useless as a liberal arts degree. Also thanks to the student debt crisis going into law or medicine is no longer a guarantee of moving up the economic ladder. Certain types of law and medicine are still quite lucrative but many types are not i.e. family medicine or public defense. And many of the currently lucrative fields will likely be threatened by AI and other technological advancements in the next 20-30 years which is a huge problem if you have a 20 year + student loan repayment plan.

@TGuard00014
@TGuard00014 5 жыл бұрын
@MAI OPINION I’m not giving up, nor am I encouraging other people to give up. I actually think trade school is the best option and an excellent option for economic improvement. But as someone who is staring down twenty plus years of student debt that I will be lucky to ever pay off-thanks to an education and career that everyone assured me was a path to prosperity and is instead a fulfilling path to a worse economic situation than my parents managed- I think it’s important that people, especially young people, know the truth. The truth is the old paths to socioeconomic stability and improvement don’t work anymore. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any options or any hope. But the days where a “useful” degree like law or medicine and a good work ethic were all that were needed to provide a comfortable living are over. Trade school is a far better investment than a college education at this point.

@tomyourmom people have made it with far less than the median. This excuse is one that differentiates this generation from all others. Lots of excuses and entitlement attitudes. My Mom used to make $3.85 an hour in the 1980s, she was able to eventually build a business and buy property. It was very difficult. Yes a woman of color back then. Has anyone noticed that Bret is basically one of the Yuppies from "American Psycho?" I assumed he would have been some lower class guy who completely hates Yuppies.

RonaldReaganRocks1 - for a while he wanted to be one, as a way to emulate his father. His father IS ‘Patrick Bateman’, he’s admitted recently. He strikes me as a much more rounded, settled person these days.

Can someone familiar with Ellis explain why he’s obsessed with aesthetics as the be all end all? I get that people are heavily visual but for Ellis everything, from art to politics, seems to critically hinge on aesthetics. Would appreciate an explanation!
@theknowlodge8294
@theknowlodge8294 5 жыл бұрын
Eitan Ben Dor - by ‘aesthetics’, he doesn’t necessarily mean ‘surface image’. More specifically, an artist’s tone. Expressionistic ‘mode’. The look and feel of a movie, etc.

A very large majority of film school students are obsessed with victim-hood plot lines. Creativity and thinking outside the box to tell stories that haven't been told are not in their interests. By the way, election night was pure gold.

Honesty is not something that I expect to find in almost any politician, but what Trump has that is in short supply these days, is candor. Candor is nonexistent among woke leftists, because in that worthless set of douches, stating obvious truths, and telling people how you really feel will get you labeled as a racist bigot 10 out of 10 times.

It's scary how here we are only 3 yrs later, and the wokeness in our entertainment has gotten SO out of hand that it's hard to even sit through a movie these days without seeing all the checked boxes, and virtue signaling....I find myself rewatching movies/tv shows from the better days(Pretty much anything until about 2016).......Remember comedy movies?!?!?!
